REAL TRIP REPORT
I have finally started my real TR. It begins on page 6. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1250765&page=6)
Rather than start a whole new report, I decided to just add on to my pre-trip report which is below.
Thank you for reading along and I hope you enjoy it.
PROLOGUE:
It all happened one day when I was sitting at my computer, simply minding my own business, reading from my favorite website, the DISboards. When all of a sudden, out of the blue, a friend of mine throws me quite a challenge. She dared me to write a trip report that readers would both enjoy and hopefully, and ultimately come back for more. Now seeing who I am, I accepted the challenge, however, I realize I may now need your help! Knowing that I am not a true author, this may now be a challenge to all of you. So please, please read my TR, no matter how bad it may appear, and post because the winner of this challenge is determined by the one with the most fans, er I mean posts! I thank you all in advance and will send out Disney Dollars soon…. oh wait, I think I may have remembered something in the rules about no bribes allowed!!! Sorry about that but please know I will appreciate each and any comment received!!! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
PRE-TRIP REPORT:
Now, seeing that we don’t actually leave for WDW until early December, I will call this a pre-trip report. This trip is a true celebration, not of a birthday or anniversary, but of a beautiful adoption. This adventure will be our very first trip as a forever family - a celebration and sigh of relief that we can now relax knowing that the adoption of our little girl is final.
CAST:
Now, seeing that my husband and I are not all that exciting, the star of this show will most likely be our 2 ½ year old daughter. Now this is where I may or may not have an advantage over my competitor. You see this other person will be leaving her children behind for a much-deserved trip with her beloved husband. Note: that is your first clue to the identity of my challenger. Other hints to come…
DETAILS:
We have never stayed at WDW so this will truly be an experience to remember. Our reservations call for 3 nights at the Dolphin, followed by 4 more nights at the Wilderness Lodge. Having found the DISboards, I have been milling around them for months and months, learning all the little secrets and ins and outs. Now if I can just remember them, such as which side of the line is shorter or which side of the boat to sit on so I don’t get literally drenched and whatnot. I am a planner and goal setter by nature so when this trip became a reality and we actually started to save for it, I had to be on top of he game. My advanced dining reservations have been made and remade and park days have been chosen. December cannot get here soon enough!
MINOR HITCH:
When you least expect it and at the most inopportune times, things can go wrong. Now I am an optimist so I always “try” to look for the best in things. Now seeing that a WDW experience involves a great deal of walking, it would be a shame to get hurt prior to a trip. However, that is exactly what I did about a week or so ago. While carrying an overflowing basket of dirty laundry down my stairs, I ended up stepping on a “sippy cup” (which I swear was not there when I walked up) and falling down the stairs, landing only when my knee slammed into the hard wood floors. I guess you could say I have a newfound realization as to just how hard hardwood floors really are…haha. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up with a sprained ankle and a “high-grade tear in the medial collateral ligament” (MCL) in the left knee. Now I must admit my first thought when I fell was, “OMG, how in the world am I going to be able to walk around WDW”. My second thought was, “how in the world am I going to be able to bend down and get all those great shots of my little one in the most happiest place on earth”??? (Side note: photography is one of my major hobbies so there should be a great number of images attached to this TR). Now, to look on the bright side, my fall could have been much worse. An orthopedic visit is in order for next week but I will be hoping for the best. I have heard from a few that many times one does not need surgery for an MCL tear. Lets hope that is my case as well.
PIXIE DUST:
I must share with you that I have been blessed with a bunch of pixie dust already and I haven’t even left for WDW yet. I must give thanks here to three people who have blessed me with their kindness.
First off, I must thank a wonderful person who so kindly and thoughtfully helped me with my “Magic Your Way” tickets! This person is truly amazing and I cannot thank her enough!!! I hope she knows how much we appreciate what she has given to us!!!
Second, I must thank a friend of mine who is helping me with photography. His tips, advice and constructive criticism are a tremendous help and very much appreciated. His photos are amazing and I can only hope to get some as nice as his!
Lastly, I must thank my dear Disney buddy, the one who actually challenged me to write this TR. Just this morning, I received my first Disney Dollar (actually two) in the mail with a lovely card to cheer me up since my fall. It was such a pleaseant surprise.
This all just goes to show that one does not have to literally be in WDW to experience a little pixie dust!!
WARNING:
Like I said this report will have much to do with my dear daughter, so here is your first glimpse of her and her opinion of Mommy’s trip report! Hahahaha.
Until the next time......thanks for reading!!!
