Edited to add some more pictures :-)

This is the way they showed me at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort.

I like Hanes Mens Cotton Undershirts. Light weight, takes the dye well, and on the cheap side.

First Find some things to use to trace out the head

Make sure you place a mark in the center of each circle

Gather up each circle trying to make each fold kind even and then place a band around the whole thing (see near my thumb)

When you put the dye on, make sure that band just below the circles has a coordinating/contrasting color as you can see below.

Tulip kits

I tye my shirts dry, then I soak them in cold water (no soda ash, coz the tulip kits dont need it) and wring them out well. If you dont wet them first, the dye just rolls off them, even if they have been washed a million times with no soap. (which btw you should do)

A couple of other tips...

While I am tracing out the mickey heads I make a mark at the bottom center of the shirt both front and back because once you make the mickey heads on both sides, the shirt is a little kittywhompass, so you need those marks to line it up again before doing more tying or everything else will be off center. TRUST ME, I have made many flops haha

I also make marks on the sleave, neck of the shirt and a frew other places too.

All in pencil.

Now I have tried to pull up both the front and the back into the mickey head and tried dyeing that, but it's really much better to make two separate mickeys if you want them on the front and the back.

We just back got lots of compliments and the shirts were nice and light weight!

Those look terrific (and easier than sewing the Mickey head like I have done). I especially like the picture of your family wearing them!
