OMG! MM is driving me crazy. I'm trying to order my merchandise for the Vera Bradley Luncheon. It's asking me to send a photo of my AP. Uh, my AP is on MM band.

I call Disney. Oh, hold for a moment. Okay, I'm told, that I should've received a SEPARATE discount card. Why? I thought the purpose of MM was to have EVERYTHING on the band. Now, I have to haul a card anyways? My bands were sent with ressies BEFORE AP could receive them. Guessing...this is why I don't have a discount card?

I was transferred to the AP line...no help. CM said, hold on, you need to talk to "them". Who is them? And, I'm STILL holding.

I have two sets of bands, but need another set, PLUS a card? This is NUTS!

Mine came in the box with my AP Magic Bands.

You also have to have a photo ID when you use the discount card at the parks.

So much for grabbing your MB and off you go.

You have to upload a picture of the front and back of the card for the Vera discount (or at least that was the only way I could apply mine)

Hope they help you!!

I didn't receive "AP bands. They sent our bands through our resort reservation and just added our AP to those. I've missed a whole process.

If you have active AP's and have a new resort stay (hence the magic bands) then you should be able to use your old AP ticket. Even with the magic bands, you should have received a plastic ticket or the discount card at activation.

If you have not used your AP's yet, then you have to activate it on your first day at a guest relations. At that point you can use it for park admission. They will also give you the card then.

So I guess I don't see the issue? If you have an active AP, you should have a plastic ticket from prior to the magic bands since it doesn't look like you have used magic bands previously. If you don't have an active AP, then you wouldn't be eligible for the discount until it is active.

The issue IS...I no longer have our plastic tickets. Our AP's are on My Magic band. I didn't realize, that I needed more cards and multiple bands for 10 days.. It's never been this complicated.

I've spoken with 4 CMs and wasted an hour of my day...so far. No one seems to know, what to do. Hopefully, the last one will solve my dilemma.

When are you going? I had the option of customizing 2 sets of MB on MDE. One was for our resort stay and the other was for our APs. The box arrived a week later with my bands and in the bottom of the box was the discount cards. If you haven't requested shipment of those bands I'd go online and look and see if you can. If you have enough time to receive them at least.

You won't have to use both sets but because you have an AP they can send you AP MBs which contain the discount cards. The idea being you have them to use the rest of the year for a day visit, onsite or offsite. But then of course if you stay onsite like I do you get the resort bands. It does confuse things a bit. We got both sets but I'm only using our resort one. I gave the others to my kids to play with before our trip.

Quick question...does your pass have to be activated before you can customize a band for it? I have the voucher for my Seasonal pass, but I haven't activated it yet and I don't see the option to customize an MB for it (IDEK if it's strictly for ANNUAL pass holders, or if it's for pass holders of all levels)

Ok, I understand now.

However, and this is not trying to be mean, but you should have kept your plastic tickets from your first trip with your magic bands. There is no linkage between the merchandise system, parking or anywhere else AP discounts are used. The only place it is linked is in ticketing for admission/FP+. Since you already had a trip with magic bands under you belt I can only assume that you never used the merchandise discount once on your trip to realize you still needed the card? While I agree it stinks that at this point you need both and that the systems aren't linked, it sounds like user error on your part (for getting rid of the actual cards) and its not surprising the CM's are not able to help you since the systems aren't linked.

The only options I see at this point are that since you have active AP's, you should be able to go in and customize an additional set of AP Magic Bands and when those are shipped you will get the discount card with them. Or you will have to wait until you get to guest services at a park and have them issue you a plastic ticket or a discount card with photo id.

Hopefully they can fix this in the future to make the magic bands truly universal and then issues like this wouldn't happen.

Yes, it must be active. When the rolled out the Magic Bands to AP holders it was for active AP's. I have a voucher and two resort stays reserved with magic bands customized for those stays but I don't have the option to customize just the AP set yet. I am expecting that will pop up after my first trip on the AP when it becomes activated.

Okay, I thought so, I just wanted to be sure. Thanks! :goodvibes

Your APs are NOT on your MagicBand. They are maintained in the MyDisneyExperience program you can look at via computer or app. Your band is just a gateway, a window into what is in their system. Should there ever be an issue with your MyDisneyExperience then it might not show any AP (have had that happen), your MagicBand will see no ticket. Your receipt and your hard ticket AP are important to hold on to. If you AP disappears your MB won't get you in the park, you would have to go get a hard copy to get in from GR because IT won't fix if fast enough to enjoy your vacation (again from experience).

In order to get free parking, dining discounts, shopping discounts or any other AP benefit you will have to show your AP or the Discount Card that came with your AP MagicBands AND a form of ID to match the names. They check it all closely. I just got back from third trip with AP and MB. Your MB is useless when it comes to anything tied to your AP - other than park entry.

If you have lost or thrown out your APs I would go to the first Guest Relations booth you get to and get new APs made for you to receive your benefits. I agree with PP to go on MDE and see about getting your AP MagicBands. For reference this is the package and the cards (that are in bottom of box).

Yes, I understand now. It's wasn't as simple as adding these to MM band. This has also confirmed, that MM isn't to enhance the guest's experience. ;) It's all about data mining. :/

We just renewed ours, and they gave us new plastic cards. When I got home, we had the option of ordering (another) magic band. We just received our AP ones 2 weeks earlier. I also got a second discount card(this time the correct color) when the new bands arrived. The funny thing is, I was able to order a new band/card, my son the same, but the option is not there for my wife.

Anyway, even with the magic band, you should still have a pass and a discount card.

I'm pretty sure the discount card is only a temporary workaround while they switch everything over to the new system because, from what I can tell, their cash registers aren't configured to check for an AP discount using the band and neither are the parking tolls. I'm pretty sure that they'll stop issuing them once everything is switched over and eventually you'll only need to use your MagicBand for the discounts/parking.

I got an email from disney yesterday that said to discard the discount card & just show my pass for parking and discounts.

my question to go along with this thread...is if you are a new AP and have to redeem your voucher on your first trip, how do you park for free?

I'm not going to pay $17 so I can pick up my AP. Or can I show my voucher at the lot and explain? I understand I can go to Boardwalk Quest and park free, but I'd rather go from the airport at 6pm and straight to MK to redeem there. I assume at 7-8pm the line at Guest Relations will be non-existant anyway.

I know when we purchased DVC AP's on one trip (before you could get them online) we just paid to park and showed the receipt and they subtracted that cost from our total. On our last trip to get new AP's we did the same thing except we had vouchers but we were buying the TiW card so they subtracted the price of parking from that. Not sure if they just refund your money or do a gift card or something if you aren't purchasing something or and just redeeming. So I guess this wasn't very helpful to your question, :)
