My LSS is closing!

There are 2 LSSs within 5 minutes of my house. The larger one is focused on merchandise and I have had some customer service issues with the owner. The other one started as a workshop with tables and tools and slowly expanded to sell some merchandise. They were focused on customer service and having one of the greatest cropping areas.

My friend and I have started making it a tradition to meet up there every 2 weeks to crop. She is just started to get into scrapbooking and I know she is going to be as hooked as I am. We love using the Sizzix machine and the CM cutting system. I got an email from the store on Sunday saying they are selling everything. We met up there Tuesday night to crop and all the tools and most of the chairs in the cropping area had sold.

We decided to try the other store and it was just not the same. They don't have a sizzix. Their cropping area is cluttered - BAD!! You can barely move around back there, let alone find any of their tools. We may try the new Archivers store, but it is a bit too far to travel to twice a month.

My friend and I have decided to look into purchasing our own Sizzix and alphabet set and rotate houses. We are both married and neither one of us have kids, so it is not a big deal to swap houses each time. Our DHs get together and race XMods while we scrapbook, so it works out well.

Long story short, I'm really depressed that my store is closing!! If anyone has any advice on how to find a Sizzix machine and a few alphabet sets cheap, I'd appreciate it. I don't get the paper, but my friend's parents do, so we will now be the crazy people trying to get the sizzix stuff the next time Michael's has a coupon!

Only a few more days until our 14 day trip to Florida! I just had to share with my DIS friends because I know you guys would understand! :sunny:

Hey Tony..........
I have been in your shoes!! There were 2 LSS right here in the town I live in, a large one w/a good variety of paper, stickers, die cuts etc the 2nd one had a smaller selection but a good area to do crops and a very nice lady to work with. There was also a HUGE LSS about 30 mins from home at a local Mall so whenever I went to the Mall, I'd stop by her store. Well, the larger store here in town closed in Feb and then a month or 2 later the other one at the Mall closed!! The good thing tho, the smaller
store locally is still open and has ordered more things altho she doesn't have the stickers or cardstock that the other 2 stores did. I was forced to buy a lot of things through Michael's, JoAnne's and Hobby Lobby for my Disney album that I'm still working on!

Have you looked on Ebay for a Sizzix? Short of getting one w/a coupon from Michael's or JoAnne's, Ebay is the only other thing I
can think of. You might try advertising in a few of the LSS if they have a community board that you are interested in buying one.

Good luck in your search!!

I too feel your pain....my DH had purchased a gift certificate for me to the LSS and I could never spend it cause it looked like they were going out of business! Sure enough they did but I really miss the DIe cut machine....man she had a nice set up!....I told her why not let people come to her garage and let them use it? lol
didn't go for that...so I just bought a Sizzix....Michaels had a 50% off coupon this week and I used it! The alphabets are a bit more pricey but the Sizzlets alphabits are on sale this week for 99.00 instead of 149.00 ...so you might want to go grab some of those.

Maybe you should head to the Archivers once every month or other month and then alternate houses....what a fun idea!

We are trying to look at the bright side of things! We're probably going to hold out for a 50% coupon to buy the machine. They are selling for more than that on ebay, so we'll just wait. I think we may have better luck picking up a complete alphabet set on ebay; however, since all the $97 sets were gone at both Michael's I checked yesterday. We used the Fun Serif and Lollipop the most, so we'll probably see if we can snag those!

I knew you guys would understand my pain! :wave2:
