I had to share my latest pinterest project on here because I figured if anyone would appreciate my craftiness, it would be my fellow WISHers! I'd been eying those race bib coasters that some companies sell for awhile, but since we already have a disney set we use, I didn't think it was worth $30 to have a set made. While on pinterest last week I saw a pin that my friend posted for DIY coasters using scrapbook paper and tiles from the hardware store. A light bulb went off and I decided to try with my race bib instead of paper. I think they turned out pretty well, except the bibs were so wrinkly to begin with that I couldn't smooth all the bumps out. I probably could have color copied them for a better result...

So cool! Did you use modge podge?

Yup! I put two layers on and let them dry before I put the layer on that I stuck the bib on with. 2 more layers on top of the bib while I smoothed out the bib, then a clear coat spray paint finish once the modge podge was dry. Super easy!

How wonderful! Great idea! I just love Pinterest! Going to try these with Harley Davidson, Disney & NY Giants pics...off to the craft store

Love those! Might have to steal your idea.

Steal away, it wasn't really my entire idea, I just used some alternative materials. Since most of my family ran in a race over marathon weekend I'm thinking about making some as gifts. I wish I could get copies of their bibs without them knowing somehow!

Can you post the pinterest link. I'm not super crafty so I'm gonna need step by step directions. I LOVE this idea!

I like the wrinkled look. It goes with the tiles. I'd like to try this too. Another idea might be to get a larger tile, leave the bib whole (or maybe halved) and make a trivet. That's as long as the modge podge can handle the heat. Any thoughts?

Those look great! I'm sure you saved a bunch of $ doing it yourself.

My princess bib is still sitting on my dresser. I have an album that I made with my other 5K/10K bibs, but I still can't put my princess bib away yet! :rotfl:

I did think about that, but my reservation was how it would work with really hot pans or dishes. I can use them for coffee pretty well without the cup sticking to the coaster, but I would be afraid a hot pan would melt through the spray paint clear coat. I'm sure there is an alternative top coat that would work well wit higher temps, I just don't know what that would be! I thought about just mounting some other bibs onto bigger tiles to display with medals since I have a small display with a little shelf on top.

Here's the link for the version I kind of used!

I did a similar idea when I was younger with pictures I liked. If you get a clear glass plate, you can modgepodge the pictures to the back of it and see through the front. Kind of like a picture frame plate, lol. The only downside is you had to wash them by hand since the modge podge wouldn't hold up well to the dishwasher.

I wonder if something similar would work for Bibs...

That's a great idea too! I have enough bibs that I could probably make a whole set of dishes like that, although DH might not appreciate having to wash everything by hand :rolleyes1 I'm trying to think of other ways to creatively use and display my bibs now. I have so many, I'd love to at least be able to do something unique with the cool/ colorful ones.

Those are really great! You need to post about them on your blog so we can pin your page. :goodvibes

I might if I get a chance. I have a hard enough time keeping my blog updated as it is, so I make no promises. I'll post if I do get a post done about it though!
