Thanks to those who reponded at the beginning of my journey about my thyroid nodule. The biopsy results were papillary thyroid cancer - I found out yesterday and I see a surgeon today for a total thyroidectomy.

The DIS has always been a happy, helpful place for me. Not a place to be talking about surgeries, scars and cancer - not for me anyway.

I'll keep posting - I'll keep reading and with a whole lot of pixie dust, when I am given some good news, I'll share it with you.
Thanks to all! :grouphug:

You are in my prayers. I hope that all goes well with your upcoming surgery. :grouphug:

I'll be looking forward to hearing your good news of total removal of all tumor.
Papillary tumor is fortunately one of the 'good' ones to have.
I am glad you had the biopsy done!
Best wishes with prayers and pixie dust.

Hi CanadianPaco. Sorry to hear your bad news. But, I am an 11 year thyroid cancer survivor and I know you will get through this.

Please go to www.thyca.org and join the e-mail support list. Somewhere within that site you can get to it (it is a Yahoo Group also so maybe you can find it that way). It is a WEALTH of information as is the site.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. :grouphug:

Sorry to hear it was bad news. I hope everything goes well and you're feeling better soon.

:grouphug: My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Another thyroid cancer survivor here....2 1/2 years, follicular for me. Christine is right, thyca is a fantastic site. Hope that you surgery went well and that you are on the road to recovery. Please keep us posted.

Thyroid Cancer Survivor here too  Mine was follicular varient of papillary. It may feel like the end of the world right now, but it is not. I felt that way when I was diagnosed in 2002 but have met so many wonderful people and have learned a great deal since then. If you had to choose a cancer (like who would be crazy to want to :confused3 ) thyroid cancer would be the one to pick.

:grouphug: there is an awesome yahoo group for people with thyroid cancer. try this link, if it doesn't work pm me.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Thyca/
they are an amazing source of knowledge and just plain old nice people! and stick around here, it'll surely help if you don't give up things you enjoy!

sounds to me like your going to be able to kick the big C,s butt

Another survivor here, my surgery was just over a year ago. The thyca site helped me understand the procedure and manage my crazy doctor's office staff so I could get everything I needed. There are great people and a lot of information there.

:grouphug: to you. It's a scary diagnosis but very treatable.
