Hi guys,

I am so upset. My Kodak digital died. I know it is just a Kodak but it was amazing. It was fast, the colors were vibrant, did great in bright lights and the list goes on. It will cost around 130.00 to fix. I am contemplating buying another Kodak. My dd bought a camera on the DCL Magic that Shutters recommended and is a top brand but it doesn't even come close to the quality that the Kodak pictures have. She will attest to that. We also own an Olympus 770SW which does a good job but it is sooooo slow and the quality of the pictures aren't near what our Kodak does. I loved it on our snorkeling trip.

Anway, any thoughts on the new Kodaks? What would I look for in the specifications for how fast it is, the vibrant colors, bright lights. I am NOT a pro so I don't need anything fancy. I need something that has "Auto" for red eye etc.

Thanks for any help!!

I am the Op's DD and would love to find a camera like her Kodak. The pictures were always so vibrant and colorful while mine (and anyone elses) were just pretty!!! Any suggestions would be great.

Just find one on ebay. I jus tlooked quick and there's one going right now for $28 (shipping included). Of course it won't have all the bells and whistles new cameras may have, but it'll at least be something you are used to...

I would also check on your local Craigslist - that way you can see it before you buy it. I've bought a few things that way - including a camera and a computer - and it's worked out great. Try to find one which still has the original box with all the contents, wasn't used that much, etc.

I hear what you mean about liking your camera a lot. I loved my original HP, but the shutter opening broke. I got another but it was terrible on batteries. I now have a Canon but sometimes I feel like the color was better with my HP (thought admittedly it could be that I just haven't learned how to adjust it enough yet). I've thought about buying another like my original but it's really a dinosaur now and very heavy. I still might if I find it someday, just for chuckles. My BIL has a Kodak and he gets really beautiful pictures out of it.

Once you find another like your original, keep your eye out for other Kodaks you like which may be more modern and have better features. There are some websites where people post pictures they've taken with the camera so you can see if they're to you're liking. Good luck - and show us some of your pictures when you get it!

Thanks Pea n me. Craigs list is a perfect idea. I just googled the camera and it came up to Kodak's website and talked about a frozen camera. I will have to try out their advice and see if it works. They also have someone to "talk" to on their site. Maybe I won't need a new one after all. Wish me luck.
