Just back from WDW this week and wanted to give rollator users a few tips. When you go through the new security scanners they ask if you can walk a few steps without the rollator. If you say yes they have you push it forward around the side of the scanner to a big dot on the ground, leave it, then walk through the scanner and get it yourself. The CM didn't touch my rollator which I appreciated. At the rides the procedure varied. Sometimes I rode alone, so the CM had to move my rollator after I boarded the ride. Once the CM put fresh gloves on first. Other times they just moved it like usual. When I rode Splash with my DD the CM asked her to board last after moving my rollator out of the way. At the exit to every ride there is hand sanitizer which I used and rubbed on the handles of my rollator too. I brought a travel size spray bottle of sanitizer also which I periodically sprayed on my handles, brakes, cane, and storage bag.

Hi, coolbrook. Thank you for your report. I hope you had a good time.

Did you stay onsite or offsite lodging?

Anything that struck you as unusual or different on your vacation that we may not have read about.

We stayed in a two bedroom villa at Bay Lake Towers. I thought I would feel too unsafe in the monorail and would be able to walk to Magic Kingdom. After walking with the rollator one time we used the monorail after that. The walk was too much for me. I have to stop and sit pretty frequently and that sidewalk wasn't really wide enough for pulling off to the side to sit and lacked shade. We rented a mini van at the airport which we used to drive to the other parks. The monorail actually felt very safe with only our family entering through our door into our divided compartment. The step up into the monorail is a bit high, so my rollator had to be lifted in. I should have accepted the offer of the ramp more often. I still have this misplaced feeling that I'm being a bother and holding people up. It was nice to have our van, but without parking lot trams it was a long walk for me to the entrances even with low crowds and parking relatively near the entrances. On the last day as we were leaving AK I waited at the exit and my husband got the van and picked me up. We did have a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing our CM daughter. Bay Lake Towers was so nice! We were on the second floor, but didn't have long waits for the elevator like I've heard people were having at the Contemporary. The only problem I had in the room with the rollator was squeezing between the barstools and the dining table. I usually went through the kitchen instead. It was not an accessible room, but had a walk in shower with a very low step-in and a built in bench at the right height for me to sit.
