I showed my DH the menu to trex which we will be paying OOP before we transfer to our disney resort. I was just trying to get a good idea on how much he would like to spend. He looked at the prices then saw you had to pay extra for fries. He looked at me like I was crazy! He was like $20 for a steak and cheese sandwhich are you kidding me:scared1:! I tried to remind him you are paying for the disney experience:rolleyes1 (or in this case landry's). Keep in mind we have been to TREX before aswell as rainforest cafe. I guess he never looks at the bill! Guess thats a good thing or he might not let us go anymore!! LOL

I haven't looked at a menu for a long while, but I really thought my Paleo Shrimp was less that $20. I agree those prices are high but I imagine the theming cost a small fortune.

Maybe he could find something a little more affordable on the menu if you really want to go. Have fun.

:)

At least the portion sizes are very large.

I had a chicken sandwich and had 1/2 for breakfast the next day.

My MIL just had a bowl of soup for her dinner.

If it is OOP and you are on the DDP after that :confused3, then just don't order sodas and dessert and share some things

There is also a coupon floating around for 99cent kids meals if you have kids

We love Trex! It is the one meal we pay OOP for, the rest of the trip we use DDP. Our bill for 4 ppl normally is around $125 thats with DD14 and I sharing a meal since they are so big, and DH and I each having a cocktail and sharing the big dessert!

It is so worth it IMOH!

This is one reason I like the DDP!! (Not that it covers TREX) I don't have to listen to my hubby freak about prices all week! :goodvibes

I'm not sure when you are going, but I use MYPoints to get Landry's gift cards. If I remember correctly it is 3600 for a $25 gift card. We used it last year with no problem and it softened the "blow" ;)

I only do the 5 points click thru and buy only some things through this program, but I manage to save up enough points with that a surveys to get two cards in a year.

I ordered a cheeseburger appetizer thinking it was slider size and they were three fairly large burgers. My Mom got the chicken pot pie and it was enourmous! Definitely take a glance around the room at the food when you get there.

I agree! At some point during our dinner I started looking around just trying to imagine what it costs *each day* to run that place. There were SO many servers, so many cooks, the rent on the space must be staggering, etc etc etc etc...I almost wanted to pay a bit more on our food, just to help out their overhead, LOL.

OP do you already belong to Landry's Safari Club?

LOL. You definitely have to suspend reality when you eat at disneyworld. It's the only place in teh world that you would pay $45.00 bucks for cold pancakes simply because you're eating in a "Castle"

The steak and cheese sandwich is $14.99 according to the All Ears menu. Unless they raised the prices???

My DD got a burger and I got the "add on ribs" and ate that as my meal.

I ate at Rainforest about 3 weeks ago and had the mushroom and bacon burger and that was $14.99. Fries were an extra $1.99. $17 for a burger and fries!!!

Unfortunately it just went up to 3700 points. I am currently waiting for my card that I ordered last week.

If you go on RFC website, you can print out charts (reading, behaviour, goals), that parents and kids can do together. When you hand that in as completed and signed by parent, you get kids' meals for .99. I just did this at an RFC in Michigan on Sunday. You still also can get your Safari Club discount as well as you have to order an adult entree in order to get a .99 kid meal.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

I have to side with your husband. The food there is not good and so I would not pay $20 for that either.

You should get a Landrys Select Club card. www.landryselect.com
I have one and you earn points for each dollar spent. You also get $25 for use in your birthday month. I think it costs $25 but you get $25 applied to your card. You can also check out the safari club, which you have to sign up for at the restaurant. I think the landrys club is better but we don't have kids and I have heard you can get .99 kids meals with the safari. I don't know for sure tho. BTW I love chips so I can save a couple bucks that way:)

. . . He was like $20 for a steak and cheese sandwhich are you kidding me!

1) Sane man.
2) Sane reaction.
3) I have known other men who saw Disney prices, who would
. . . give away rights to their first born
. . . inquire about a second mortgage
. . . rethink the national debt limit

Trex is really expensive, but your paying more for the experiance and the theme then for food. It is WDW after all :)

As a few posters have said, we use MyPoints for a Landry's gift card. I'm saving up right now for a $50.00 gift card to use at either T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe. We happen to really like both restaurants and the portions are very, very large. You could easily share entrees. Or order off the appetizers list.

Yea the steak and cheese is 14.99 but of course he wants fries instead of chips so brings it to about 17 then of course a soda cause God forbid we drink tap water:lmao: brings the meal to right under 20. We love the theming of TREX and my boys both LOVE dinos so we said we would take them and pay OOP. I did print up the coupon for .99 meals which will save us about 14.00 total which is awesome but itll still cost about 50 with the coupons which is hard to swallow. But I bought a gift card so it wont feel like we are "paying" for it. We are going in a month so unfortunatly I wont be able to get that many points in time but its def on my list of things to do for next time thanks for the info!! Either way Im in disney so I will happily pay 15 for my average hamburger and chips with tap water!!!!:lmao:

I seem to have two price points in my head. "Real World" prices like we would pay at home for a steak and cheese sandwich. And "Disney" prices that we would pay for the same.
If those two ever mix.. and I end up comparing the Disney meal to what I would pay at home then shock sets in.
So I try to stick to my Disney expectations and it hurts a little bit less:rotfl:

A family of four eating out for $50 doesn't really seem hard to swallow for me:confused3
