I cannot believe how much noise he makes just breathing!!!

He's not stuffed up, not sick, nothing. It's just his every day breathing. Sometimes it sounds like he's snoring, literally. sometimes it sounds like there's a whistling sound. I keep trying to get him to the doctor but he refuses.

Anybody else know someone like this?

No, but it sounds like he needs to see an ENT(specialist in ear, nose and throat issues.) He could have anything from polyps to deviated septum to tumor blocking his nasal passages. Loud breathing is not normal.

My husband is the same way. He has a deviated septum (so does my son, hmm is it hereditary). The only option is surgery. Since right now he can control his sleeping by sleeping on one side, he is okay as is.

Some times I have to leave the room and do something. Worse is the TV is quiet and I am trying to read and all I can hear is his breathing. It is like he is on top of me.
:scared1:

Go get it checked out. Fear can kill you.

I know. I had trouble breathing and ignored it. There wasn't anything wrong until ........ I had a stroke which resulted in them finding 3 clogged arteries. Dr said that stroke saved my life. Those clogged arteries could have dropped me in my tracks.

That was 2.5 years ago. Thursday I have an echo cardiogram and stress test. Not thrilled about it, but if there is something wrong better to know about it and have it taken care of

This is one situation where what you don't know can kill you.

DO THE SMART THING, YOUR WIFE CAN LOVE YOU LONGER FOR IT.

My Dh annoys me by just breathing (chewing, sleeping on the couch, smacking gum...:scared1:) everyday! But i suspect it isn't quite the same as what you are describing!

I remember my mom complaining about how loud my dad breathed. She was menopausal. :rotfl:

If he stops you have an even bigger problem.:scratchin

For sure take him to a ENT.
I kept having chronic sinus infections, more than once a month!
Finally went to the ENT. They did a cat scan. I had bone blocking the passage to my sinus, so the infection never fully drained. Also a deviated Septum.

I can now breath much easier! Although the surgery sucked, and my nose is weird as heck inside these days (rough from where they razor-ed down the bone, and one side is still more open than the other.

Beat me to my point. Our adult children complained the last time we went out of town and all had to "camp" together for the night in one room. Drove them nuts, but I sleep through DW's loud breathing, and snoring, and DW sleeps through mine. After 30+ years, I guess we have gotten used to our noises. But yes, we both get concerned if we wake up and can't hear the other breathing.;)

See if he will try breathe right strips. They can really make a difference at least at night.

Guess that's why I'm single :rolleyes1

Not his breathing, but snoring. I literally have to wear earplugs to bed....he does have sleep apnea and a CPAP but hates to use it, so I have to nag, nag, nag. I've told him one day he's going to wake up dead.

I've always been a loud breather, but I think it's gotten worse lately. I don't have a deviated septum; I had severe allergies and asthma as a kid, and have limited lung capacity, which I'm sure is part of the problem. OP, if this hasn't been a lifelong issue with your hubby, and started just recently, push harder to get him to a doctor.
