My husband went out for bread *UPDATE* he's back!

We have been married for 28 years. He doesn't carry a cell phone.

We were planning to cook dinner together today and he was just running to the bakery.

He was so happy that I was worried about him. We live in the "city" and anything could happen just crossing the street.

All is well now and we are playing scrabble and drinking beer while the corned beef cooks :cloud9:

Glad everything is OK now.

That's hilariously funny that people here were accusing him of all sorts of nasty deeds, and he was at Mass!

I think he stopped at church and forgot why he went out in the first place.

Then they got to that part about "daily bread..." and he ran out the door to get the forgotten loaf.;)

:lmao: That was probably it.

I actually think it was kinda of sweet that the OP wanted to share her concerns with us. but most of all really happy for the couple that all worked out.

Next time we should remember to wait at least an two hours before we post on the DIS if our other half are late home.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Susan

P.S. I am a sucker for a happy ending

RUM?

I'd get him a cell phone. That way, if he gets delayed, he could contact you by phone or by text (which can be done quietly in church for 5 seconds...trust me God won't mind if you are texting to tell your wife not to worry!).

I trust my DH implicitly, but if he were going on a 10 minute errand and then was gone for 1.5 hours, I'd be worried that something happened to him physically...

Conversely, if I went somewhere and knew DH was expecting me to be on a short errand and it turned into a long errand, I'd call just to give him a head's up not to worry.

Yup, that was the point. It was a local errand that was taking too long. I think the cell phone is a good idea, but he absolutely hates them.

Oh well, dinner is almost ready!! Thanks for all the kind thoughts and suggestions. :)

Ah, the ole "got stuck at church" excuse... :rolleyes1 ;)

Piney, you never did say whether he brought the bread back. :scratchin

It was rye bread for St. Patty's Day - dinner was delicious.

I now have a tracking device implanted behind his ear
