Does anyone else have this problem? My husband and I were talking this morning about money and I told him I wanted money to put away for our trip in November. He he had other ideas for the money. So I thought I would ask him how much he thought we needed for our trip. Now mind you hotel, airfare and our passes are paid for. But he actually said $400!!
We are staying 6 days 5 nights! I told him that wouldn't even cover our food for our stay!

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? Or am I the only lucky one? :hyper: :earseek:

I am going to print out some menus where I was planning on eating and let him do the math!

My husband (who's only 36!) thinks he can buy Levi's for $15, so I feel your pain. He also will only spend $30 on sneakers and requires that they're not made in China - yeah, right. I keep telling him that he has the financial memory of someone born in 1935, not 1968. Although, he didn't seem to think that $100 was too much for a joystick for his Flight Simulator game!;)

As for Disney, he didn't go on the last trip and he's not going on the upcoming one. I've started a separate account for ebay profits, rebates, Half.com money and so forth and I'm expecting him to keep his mits off of it!

YES!!!!

I do all the planning and budgeting and he just shows up. Sometimes he acts shocked when I worry we don't have enough when he knows we put aside $200 a month till our trip and sometimes also add tax money to the total.

He thinks since everything is paid for (resort, passes, airfare) that we should only need about $1000 for food and souvenirs and tips and what not. WRONG!

We are cruising and we need a rental car and we need to pay for the kennel, shots, cruise tips, groceries, character meals, parasailing etc....

He hasn't got a clue. Thankfully, I have a spreadsheet to prove my point to him when he doesn't believe me!;)

It's funny we were out to dinner the other night with my sister and brother-in-law and my DH said "she pays this trip off all year long so I realy don't know how much it all cost". He doesn't know how right he is since I bring a lot of disney dollars too so he has no clue. He really wouldn't complain about the money it's just that I've found out through the years it's better if he sees it going out in dribs and drabs than one big chunk of money all at once.

We stayed for 5 nights this past december. After Airfare, and dream maker package( around $2800 for both) we spent an additional $1300 on Food, Souvi's, rental car, and town car transfer.

I just used my Diner's club for everything and that way I had it all on one statement.

you could omit $200 for the rental car if you aren't going to visit my parents afterwards. (They might enjoy it though).

Oh yes, I can relate. My DH is totally clueless when it comes to this kind of thing. I plan all of our trips (we take 3 to 4 per year, and not just to WDW), and I have realized that he really doesn't want to know the details, so he is clueless by choice. If I asked him to guess how much one of our trips costs, he would never be close to the actual amount. One of the reasons we can travel so much is that I am a bulldog when it comes to getting the best deal, and I know he appreciates when we save money. So now, I usually will just say, "I saved $X on our trip", rather than "we are spending $X on our trip", and he'll say "Oh, cool". If I say more than that I think he'd just tune me out anyway! lol!

Can totally relate:faint: I love when my husband, who knows I have everything budgeted, goes on a sprending spree and buys $300 in James Bond videos (e.g.). I always get...where does "all my money go"? Gee I guess the house, timeshare, food, and cars all grow on trees!!! And then he wonders why I start to panic while we are on vacation. I am always worried that he will bust the budget in 3 days. What can we do?

Too funny!

I know exactly how you all feel. ::yes::

My DH not only does not know how much our vacations cost, he doesn't know how much the electric bill is, cable, insurance, food...you name it!

He was forced to look at the household budget last month and then said, "Oh, I didn't realize it cost that much to run our household each month." Duh!

When we go on vacation, I plan everything and he, well...let's see, he comes along. He never has to worry about where we're going, how we're getting there, or how much it will cost.

(He really should :worship: more.)

I always tell him that I need a wife too! ;)

I have one of those over here. The other day he said by the way how much is this trip really costing us?

I also handle all of the household budgeting. Every Friday he'll usually say how much money do I get. He has no clue how much we spend of food, electricity or anything. A couple of months ago he wanted to know how much was the mortgage payment. When I ask why he won't sit down with me and do the budget, he simply responds because you do such a good job on it.

BTW, blanq I usually only tell him how much we saved also.

Ohhhh mmmyyy I can soooo relate! For example my husband has no clue of anything. His concept is that as long as he doenst see any late notices then he doesnt care.

I found it funny last year that I planned the WHOLE trip down to reservations and scheduled down times. Now he didnt want to talk about the trip or priority seatings or anything before the trip then we get there. He suddenly Commando Dave and was like-"I have been here before so lets go here." I was shocked :earseek: He was there 10 years ago and it was a whole different Disney and he was trying to steal my thunder. No way. He knew my grimm reaper look :duck: and knew to step away.

Now this trip I have reminded him to get involved and be part of it. And all he has said is take me somewhere with Prime Rib. :crazy2: That is it! The best that he can come up with. Men you got to love them :bitelip:

Glad I am not the only one out there with a husband like this! My husband is all these things and more!! Doesn't even know when he gets paid!!(He's been with the company 19 years!) Guess I should be grateful he enjoys his job so much that to him it just doesn't matter!

My husband was surprised to find out he is enrolled in his employee stock purchase program and that he has a 401k account. Sometimes I worry about him. I don't think he has any idea what our expenses are or what a loaf of bread costs. That is a-okay with me ::yes:: It is how we divide the labor around here. He works, I spend. :D
