My DD tried out of volleyball and didn't make it. She is upset and that makes me want to cry. I need pitty right now

Oh no! :grouphug:

I remember back in high school I tried out for the drill team and didn't make it. I was really crushed. :guilty:

Oh just had a flashback to cheerleader tryouts. Sending a HUGE hug her way.

dd#2 tried out for cheer leader Didn't make it I was secretly pleased.. Before summer was over her best friend that made it was smokin' pot at parties And my dd was left out of the parties because she didn't make it
Needless to say it was a big lesson in friendship and other important stuff :wave2:

:grouphug: :flower3:  Hugs for you and your daughter. I am so sorry things didn't work out for her in volleyball. Maybe there is a local rec center that has a league she can play in. I know the Y in our area has lots of organized sports.

I can sympathize....I am horrible at all sports. I tried out for volleyball and did not make it (big surprise) but I asked to be the water/ball girl. I felt like I was part of the team. I got to wear my jersey on game day, went to all the games and practices. I did not feel like I was missing out on anything. I ended up being the coach asst. and even lettered my senior year. This may be the something she would like to do. I was never good enough (we were state champs) but I did improve my skills during those years and made lasting friendships. sixteen years later I invited several teammates to my wedding and one was a bridesmaid.

I was going to suggest she be the Team Manager. The Coach will get to know her better personally that way and she can tryout again next year. :)

Hugs. :grouphug:

How old is your dd? My 13 y/o is trying out this week for volleyball too....they had their first day today and start making the cuts on Wednesday. I am really nervous for her too, she says some of those kiddos are really good, my dd has never really been in sports but is trying out because most of her friends play.

The ideas of team manager etc. are really good so she can still be a part of the team.

I know how your feeling though when our kids are hurt and let down it hurts us just the same. It'll be okay though.

Ooohhhh, that's so heartbreaking. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Oh, I know how you feel. Same thing happened to my DD a few years ago. Here's a hug for you, and one for her too - tell her there's something much better waiting for her in the wings. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I know how it feels... my 7yo tried out for a gymnastics team and didn't make it. I cried inside, but I used it as a learning opportunity (I know, ). I think it's a good lesson in life... for both of us.

Regardless, yes, it'll work out. Perhaps she could try again next year, for another team or sport, or what not.

They make cuts at 7? Seems a little harsh!

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. I know you and your daughter are disappointed. I hope some better opportunity comes along for her.

I know what you are going through as a mom. When DD didn't make cheer captain last year, she was devastated. And it hurt me terribly, much more so than when I didn't make cheerleading in high school. But just last week she tried out again and made it! There really is always next year ( I know it's cliche, but it's true) and now she has a whole year to practice! Maybe you could find an instructional volleyball dvd or book online that would give her some pointers. Or even ask the coach what she can work on to improve her chances for next year.
Hugs to you and your daughter!
