I've learned more about WDW than I've known in a lifetime. Thank goodness for these boards. There are a few things I'm just not getting. It's okay, you can call me dense.

Should I book my rooms IMMEDIATELY at AAA rate? Then, hope for a code? For example, in our dream world, we would stay at WL cabins. We don't care when we go to the resort!!!! Anywhere from the second week of January to the third week of February would be lovely. Personally, I'm liking the second week of February. I would change my ressies in a heartbeat for a good code.

Second, am I better off buying an Annual Pass? I see on mousesavers that, generally, there is a room code given to the AP holders and the general public on the same day. Is it the same code? The same discount? We'll be going for about six days, give or take.

Let's say I buy an adult ticket about $200.00
The annual pass is $515.00.

Am I really going to make up the $300 in benefits or savings? My kids are little, so we won't go to Quest. We plan on skipping the water parks this year. Will we go again next year? I don't know. We might go again in January or October *if* we had Annual Passes and *if* they had the stay, play, and dine deal again. Then we could stay, play, eat, and fly for under $2,000. But, I should add, it's not terribly likely.

I'm hoping this makes sense. Book now? Get an annual pass?

I would say book now so you have a room that you want. You can always call and get the code later if one comes out. I have never had an AP before, but from what I understand is that if an AP code comes out you can book the AP rate and you don't actually need to get the AP ticket until you check in ( I think that is correct). So, you don't need to purchase the AP in advance that way you can see what options come out at the time and weigh the cost differences then.

Whoops! Meant FORT Wilderness, not Wilderness Lodge!

BTW, do I book for just one arbitrary week?

For example: Book January 31 - February 5th... But what if the offer is expires Jan. 28th or begins Feb 10th.... should I book two weeks worth and then just cancel one week? Can you see my head turning around in circles and my eyes bugging out?

I would book the week that you want for now if you will be going whether or not you can get a deal. If a special comes out that doesn't fit with your dates, you could book the new dates and then cancel the original. The best way to use the codes is to stay flexible, but I don't think that booking a week that you know you won't use will make it any more likely for you to get the deal.

Okay, must I pay for everything up front? Right now my card does *not* have that much room on it. :) How much will they charge my card immediately? I know this seems silly, but important.

AP codes are out right now for the time frame you're looking for. It's under their new best rate plan for AP holders. You must have a current AP to book this. Since you will only be stayin 6 days I don't know if it will make sense to buy an AP. I would just book the week I want now and wait for a code to come out and by all means be flexible. I'm not 100% sure of this...

If you are booking room only, I believe the deposit is one night's stay. This deposit is refundable until 5 days before your stay begins.

If you are booking a package, you pay a $200 deposit. This deposit is refundable until 45 days before your stay.

This sounds right to me.

Also, when I booked my MYW package, my TA was able to put a "courtesy hold" on it for a few days until I had made my mind up for sure, during which time I did not have to pay my $200 deposit.

Room only resevations require one nights deposit and packages require a 200 deposit. However for both of them, if you don't want to give them a credit card over the phone, they will send you a bill, so you sort of have 14 days from when you make the reservation until the money actually has to be in Disney's hand.
