I'm going to DL in October for the Halloween Party and I'm so confused. I've reading threads and my head is spinning. Should I do WoC, Fantasmic, Fast Passes, Lunches. Where should I stay...near the pack, away from the park. I feel lost. I feel like I should be planning more when I read all these articles.

Stay off site, near the park, on Harbor. Do FP's as much as you can, get the WoC picnics if your family will eat them, otherwise just get a FP for it. DO F! Absolutely, it's a GREAT show. :)

What else?

Breathe. Keep breathing. Take it one step at a time. Book hotel then move on from there. Try the Howard Johnson on Harbor to see if they have the entertainment rate for when you want to go.
After booking hotel, then concentrate on other things. Take it one step at a time and remember to breathe!!

and dont forget to pre-buy your MHP tickets!

That's the only thing I do have :goodvibes

Next is the hotel...I've heard so many good things about the HoJo but my family can be picky...I'm looking at other options too but I may end up with HoJo after all the great things I've read about here...

Another nice place to try is The Candy Cane Inn. It offers nice rooms, free breakfast and an exclusive shuttle to and from the parks.

I'm pretty hotel picky too but I love the HoJo! Definitely recommend it. The CCI was nice too, but it was more money and the room was smaller. HoJo has no bfast but their rooms are good, the prices are good, the parking is free and it's within walking distance. The CCI has bfast, the room was OK, price was much higher, parking is free, shuttle is free and dedicated and it's within walking distance.

I find one of the hardest things about the hotels is they were all built in the late 50's. So now some places have a mix of renovated and old rooms. Not 1955 old but just not renovated since the last cycle. So the reviews can be pretty mixed on any given hotel.

were you thinking about doing any table service dinners? if so, another WoC option is to do dinner at Ariels or Wine Country Trattoria (it's more expensive than the picnics and they are NOT character meals) but you can also get a FastPass for WoC as well that way.

not sure what your budget is--but if you can swing it the Fantasmic dessert seating would be a great thing to do--it's a great way to see Fantasmic for the first time without having to sit on the ground for hours. (unfortunately Fantasmic doesn't offer a FastPass option--so with the dessert seating you get a reserved place and a chair! and cookies! and non-alcoholic beverages!)
