I just got my hair cut and colored - the last time my hair dresser did hi lights - it was lighter than I wanted - But not a big deal - as I am a swim coach and my hair gets really light in the summer from being in the sun, so it was no different. This time she decided to darken it a bit - well it looks fine on the top but my ends are taking on a grayish hue....my enagement pics are next week- I am not a hair dresser but am not afraid to color my own hair, I thought abot pulling a littlethrough acap and putting some more high lights in it. I do not want to tell her I do not like it b/c she usually likes my hair darker than I like it- help what should I do? I am going to wait until the middle of the week and may put a few streaks in it, but see if any of it washes out.

I do not know anything about hair... maybe take the pics in black and white then find a new hairdresser?

Go back to your hairdresser...she should fix it for free.

She shouldn't be doing YOUR hair the way SHE likes it...it's YOUR hair!!

Tell her what you want and why it's important to you (your engagement pics).

I usually color my own hair too...and two weeks before my wedding last year, I tried a new color (it was supposed to have great "shimmer" and highlights). Big Mistake...it turned PURPLE!!! Lavendar, to be exact...there was no way to deny it. I quickly called a most trusted stylist to fix it, and she did a good job and I was very much relieved.

I'm usually not one to make too much fuss with a stylist over my hair...but in this case, I would definitely go back.

I agree with hiwaygal - go back to the hairdresser and have her fix it! She would probably be very upset to know you don't like what she did, especially if it's someone you usually go to. I'm sure she can fix it and have it turn out more to your liking.

When I have my hair darkened in the winter, it always looks really bad when I first walk out of the studio. The ends always look darker than the top of my hair. When I first did it last winter, I came home and cried that she messed it up.

Wash your hair a couple of times with some regular shampoo, not shampoo to hold in color, and it should lighten up a bit. If that doesn't lighten the ends up, go back to her and explain the situation...

Let us know how it turns out...

I am in the pool 3 x a week so I am hoping the chlorine will get to it - Like I said the top is good, but the ends are the problem. I am not leaving until next Sunday for Disney and my pics are Wednesday. I will let ya know- thanks anyone else w/exp would be helpful. I wold go back to her and tell her but I am afraid that it will be worse-

I've been coloring my hair from one extreme to the other since I was 15 and I've had some bad color jobs in all that time and I always would call and go back if I was unhappy. If she is a professional she will want to know that you're not happy and will want to fix it. Like hiwaygal said, it's your hair, not hers, and she has to style it, color it, whatever to it, the way you want it to be - that's her job and what you pay good money for! Don't wait too long because she may have to strip it, or make it all darker and then go back in with highlights again (I had to have that done once) and that could take more than one visit.

Good Luck!!

Hey thanks everyone-
Well after a few days in the pool, I think it may be lightening, or maybe I am getting used to it!
Thanks-
