In October of 2004, my husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage with a Fairy Tale Weddings custom vow renewal. It was the most magical night of our lives. Disney and the Fairy Tale Weddings folks did a marvelous job with everything.

I have two unfinished trip reports regarding my vow renewal that I hope to begin working on within the next week or two (my fingers are crossed). Here are links to them:
My FTW VR Trip Planning Session
My Magical FTW Vow Renewal Vacation

I also have some photos in an on-line photo album that I hope to add to as time moves forward (it’s nowhere near complete). I should note that just this week Yahoo changed how they handle their photo sharing website. Since they’re still rolling it out, things may change slightly, but hopefully the links that I’m about to share will work:
Main Photo Album
FTW Vow Renewal Album

The first link given above is to my main photo album. You can search there for a particular album to view. The second link given above should take you directly to the album that contains photos of my vow renewal. I do have more than one vow renewal album, but that is the main one.

Lastly, since my wedding anniversary is this month, I recently created a slide show for my husband. I put a low-resolution version of that slide show on the ‘net so that I could share it with my parents who live thousands of miles away. I thought I would also share a link to it here since not too many people have seen a Great Movie Ride event. To view the slide show, please click on the following link:

The Great Movie Ride is really a very unique and fun venue for a celebration. I hope my photos gave you a little glimpse of that.

wow - you've been busy! I'm a little short of time now but I'll be checking out your reports soon. Thanks for sharing. Dee

I'm actually at work (shhh!) so I could only grab a quick peek at the low-res slide show you did. It was amazing! I especially loved the pumpking carvings of you guys and the shot of all of you in the Wedding Pavilion with your little Mouse ears on! Too cute. I hope we look as happy together after twenty years as you guys do. Happy (belated) twentieth anniversary!

That looks like the most wonderful thing ever!! How exciting!!

Can you give us a estimate of what the Great Movie Ride event cost?

Princessdisneybelle, my husband & I made a promise to each other years ago that we would keep our events’ pricing information private. I hope you can understand that I have to keep my word to the one man (besides my father) who has put up with me for eons. I certainly don’t want to start down the marriage path with a new man (it would be too much trouble). ;)

Now, with that said, if you are interested in hosting an event inside the Great Movie Ride, please do not hesitate to discuss this with the Fairy Tale Weddings folks. They will share with you the minimums that are required for that venue. It truly makes for the most unique event.

I should note that if any of you begin reading my trip reports and begin clicking on my photo links (of which there are many), most of them probably won’t work. Why? Because this week Yahoo changed the way they handle their photo sharing website. This means that links to my photos that were given in the past are probably all invalid now. I apologize for that but it is out of my control. However, as I find the time, I will try to update those links. For now, I thought I’d post the link to my main photo album: click here.

If you go to my main photo album, you can search for my specific photo albums. And don’t forget that you can always PM me if you’re looking for a particular photo. I know I haven’t been around the Dis much this year, but I try to check in every now & then. I promise I'll answer your PM as quickly as I can.

Aw thats ok. Can I just ask you. Did you have a Intimate or Custom Vow Renewal?

Thanks for being so understanding, Princessdisneybelle. I actually get asked that question a lot since my family has been fortunate to have hosted many wonderful events in Walt Disney World.

My vow renewal was custom all the way. I actually had a custom fireworks display signal the end to our evening. Disney and I had agreed upon a song in advance and their Pyrotechnics folks had choreographed a fireworks show to it. The fireworks display, what Disney called a “Kiss Goodnight,” went off at 2 o’clock in the morning. It was the most magical way to end 20 years of marriage (and begin the next 20 years of marriage). ;)

janet2k.

Thanks for posting this link. We are planning on having our VR in 12/09 (10 years..a couple of months late, but Christmas is my fav time at WDW).

Anyways, I have my heart set on the great movie ride reception..and your pics bring a smile to my face.

Purplegirl247, thank you for the kind words. The pumpkin that was carved in our image was done by a Cast Member at the Grand Floridian. It was for a Welcome Party that I hosted at the resort's marina on the night before my custom vow renewal. I should mention that I had also hosted a party there earlier in the year (not wedding related), so I was very familiar with the venue and knew that it was exactly what I was looking for (with a small guest list, I wanted something intimate & off the beaten path).

When my Event Manager suggested adding the carved pumpkin to my event, I couldn’t resist. I kept that pumpkin a secret from everyone, including my husband. But in order for the pumpkin to be carved without my husband’s knowledge, I had to submit a photo in advance: click here. And here is the finished product on the night of my event: click here. The carved pumpkin went over very well. It was a fun & festive touch.

Since I didn’t want my Event Manager to outdo me in the “creativity department,” I decided to have dolls created in my husband and my likeness. I brought those dolls to Florida with me so that they could be placed on the table next to our carved pumpkin: click here. For a close-up view, click here. The dolls went over very well, too.

Before you ask, I should mention that those dolls were created here on the West Coast. 3-D images were taken of my husband & my heads. Sadly, the man who did this for us is no longer located on the West Coast. I am thankful that before he left, dolls were created in my children’s likeness too. It will be fun handing them down through the generations.

So, as you can see, you can personalize an event in lots of different ways. Disney has some of the most creative people on the planet working for them. Allow them to use their creativity to tailor an event to your liking. In my humble opinion, you won’t be sorry.

TiggerStac, congrats on the upcoming VR. Hopefully by then my two trip reports will be complete (and also my photo albums and some videos). ;)

The Great Movie Ride is a very unique venue for a progressive dinner party. You can decorate it as much or as little as you like since it pretty much stands on its own in the way of backdrops. If I had to do it all over again, there probably isn't anything that I would change about my time there.

I hope you have fun planning your VR. 2009 will be here before you know it.

WOW!

WOW!

WOW!

Looked like you had a fantastic party! Don't even want to think about how much that cost!! (band, dj, private fireworks!)

Did I say WOW!?

I LOVE reading about your events Janet - you have such amazing events and write about them so well!!

That was just the sweetest slide show I've seen! You all look like you're having so much fun, and the music for the slide show is perfect! :thumbsup2

Janet the slide show is fantastic. Happy 22nd anniversary. I hope you get a chance to finish writing your reports. I've read what you've done before and so far they are fantastic.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I will begin working on my old trip reports soon. When Yahoo changed the way they handled their photo sharing website a few days ago, it really threw a monkey wrench into my plans. I've spent a lot of time this weekend trying to figure out how to handle my old photo albums, and any new photo albums that I will be creating in the future. It is frustrating, to say the least, and something that I didn’t count on as I was preparing to work on my trip reports again.

As to the song that I used in the slide show that I had put together for my husband, I thought it was absolutely perfect. I cry every time I hear it because it speaks to my heart. I may have lost the faith here and there throughout twenty-something years of marriage, but my husband never did. Not once. The stars have always shone brightly in his eyes. It gives me great comfort to know that, and I’m going to spend the next twenty-something years making it up to him. Of course, if he botches up our 25th wedding anniversary in a few years, there will be hell to pay (he’s been tasked with it). ;)

Congratulations Janet, what a great party! I loved your slideshow in the Great Movie Ride. Really looks like you had a wonderful day.

Janet!
Everything is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing your vow renewals- I am sure it was an event that you and your family and friends will never forget.
I am planning my Disney wedding for this February! My family and I really wanted to do the reception at The Great Movie Ride, but the wedding planner said with the amount of people we were having we wouldn't be able to do the progressive reception and would lose the magic. I understand what they meant!
Also, the pictures you posted of the hotels and your outings were a great help.
Thanks again for the postings!

it looks like you had a LOT of performers and i"m just wondering if that was very costly?

thanks!
