She was emotionally fragile and not very accepted in school.
Maybe her mom thought it would help her feel some sense of "normalcy" or acceptance?

I was thinking the same thing. I agree with Shelby that the mother is partially at fault. But her daughter was finally happy after fighting depression, she probably was just glad to see her daughter enjoying her life.

This is awful. Just the fact that this sick family is well, sick enough to do something that evil. To make a girl feel happy over this cute guy and then so unbelievably sad about what "he" is saying about her in a short time, and to the point where she eventually kills herself.

What makes me the most upset, is how yeah, there really wasn't an apology, and how they're basically like, "Well we didn't know she was gonna kill herself!" It's all so sad
