Last year before the end of the year Court Of Honor they did all the papaerwork and legwork to make me "Leader of the Year". Which was jsut too cool. Most every year one leader or another gets it but never had it come from the troop itself before. Total surprise and sooo many comments on how special my troop is.
They are the most outgoing, gutsy, but helpful respectful group of girls.
So last night, I pretty much get to sit most everything out, when most of the leaders read off the individual accomplishments of each girl, because my girls write out thier own cards of accomplishments (trips, patches, trainings, etc) and read them off themselves. At the end, after all the other leaders got flowers or plants or whatever from thier troops for a thankyou, my girls stood up and asked for the microphone.
Everyone laughed, because you never know what to expect form them. Each took a turn to say how much they like being in Girl Scouts, the value of a good leader, etc. Then they said how when I would get frustrated with them for not paying attention in the meetings, that I would say if they didn't knock it off I was going to beat them with a stick. (no commnets about that !) and then they presented me with my own stick which each girl had signed and added small messages!
So every other leader was leaving with big boquets of flowers, balloons, and here was me and my stick.
And know what ? I like my stick better than a dozen roses.
Now you know why I want to make our Disney trip special for them? Because THEY are special!!!
