Last February we took in a stray calico who ended up having kittens in our bathtub! We kept two of the kitties and the mom. They kittens are almost a year old now. Shortly after giving birth, the mom became pretty sick. It was a kidney infection, but she did recover and is doing well now. When she was in the hospital, she tested negative for Feline Leukemia. Now, my precious baby Meeko (yes, a raccoon striped gray tabby) is sick. She is usually a bundle of energy. On Wednesday night I noticed she didn't seem very active. Yesterday she was very lethargic. She eats small amounts and drinks her water. She has always been a water kitty so I don't think she is drinking any more than usual, though. She uses the litter box, but she is SO tired. I felt all over her last night and did find what I think to be swollen glands directly under her lower jaw. Of course, I am very fearful of the outcome. I have read on the internet possible diagnosis and none of them good. I am at school (supposed to be teaching, but can't keep my mind on it) right now and my dad is taking her to the vet. I fear the worst. Please keep my little Meeko in your thoughts today.
Let us know what the vet says.
I haven't actually spoken with the vet yet, but eveything is pointing to that diagnosis. I pretty much expected that answer from what I had read. I love that little kitty so much. Some mention of antibotics was said, but I know the inevitable result. Now, what would be the best for Meeko now?
I'll tell ya, these little guys sure do know how to worm their way into our hearts, don't they? I do hope the outcome is a good one here, my best for Meeko.
I woke up about a month later and he was almost dead. It was a Sunday morning so I had to take him to the only open place around...a vet school.
Cost me over 300 dollars, this was 16 years ago this month. End result I walked out with my baby in a blanket to bury him. They were appalled that a vet had not picked this up...so was I. I never went back to him again although I did call him and ream him a new one. His response...well at least you had him for another month!
