We are taking the baby to WDW for her first bday! We are so excited about it and my older kids can't wait to celebrate her big day at MK..they want to take her to dinner at The Crystal Palace for her bday! So Sweet!

My friends think I'm nuts though..I got the blah blah blah she won't remember it..yadda yadda yadda it's crowded thanksgiving week...on and on then went.

I don't care though...We are all looking forward to it! :cool1:

Your friends aren't paying for the trip! I don't think you are crazy, it is a wonderful way to celebrate a 1st Birthday! Enjoy! :)

We celebrated our DD's first B-day at Crystal Palace. It was great. Even if she doesn't remember it you and your older children will. Memories are for everyone!:thumbsup2 Have a great time. They gave DD a cupcake for her birthday and our server called over a couple other servers to watch her eat her cupcake in typical first birthday style, it was just too adorable.

i always laugh at the "they won't remember it" line... so you shouldn't do anything/go anywhere till kids are a certain age? And what age is that? ridiculous, really. You shouldn't even have a bday celebration for kids then with that logic.

DH and I went to seaworld as part of our honeymoon, then we went again about 12 years later. Besides a fleeting memory of me touching a dolphin, I literally have no memory of our honeymoon time at seaworld. I even asked a park attendant if the park had been changed in some way in the past 12 years, because absolutely nothing was familiar to me. I guess I shouldn't have gone to seaworld on my honeymoon then, since I don't remember it. And I was 24... good thing my parents didn't wait till I could prove I could remember things before they took us kids places.

don't listen to those who say that. Go and have a wonderful celebration!

Oh, and I believe traveling is soooo good for kids of any age, even at 1yo! The stimulation of being in a different environment is very enriching for them, and the quality time the family gets while away from the everydayness of home is priceless! Tell the naysayers that!

My ds was 22 months during our first disney trip, and dh and I were astonished at how his vocabulary literally exploded while we were at disney. Ask cast members about how many older autistic children do so many *firsts* at disney - a first hug, a first "I love you", etc, etc. So again, the stimulation of the environment is good for kids, whether they remember it or not.

Ignore them! We took our DS when he was 11 mos nearly a year and he had a blast! He loved the characters SO much that trip.

We have been going to WDW since our first DD was 6 months old (she is now 5-1/2 and our 2nd DD is 7 months) and she loves watching the videos of her at disney when she was a baby. Yes it will be crowded but with a baby you can't do the parks commando style anyway, so just relax, take your time and enjoy the expressions your baby will have.

We took our daughter to disney for her first birthday. We had breakfast at the hotel (we were staying at the Beach Club) and then went to the Magic Kingdom and she had lunch in the Castle with all the Princesses. That evening we had a small Mickey cake in the room for her and let her go at it.

I was worried that she would be afraid of the characters but she had so much fun with them. Whoever we met she had to kiss (more like eat their nose)

Thanks everyone! That's great to know about The Crystal Palace maybe Leah will get a cupcake too! That would be so cute! :dance3:

The bonus part of all this is...I just realized last night that WDW will be all decorated for xmas! We have the behind the holidays special from hgtv saved on our DVR and we watched it last night. We can't wait to see the gingerbread house at GF and Cinderella Castle covered in lights!

She may not remember but she will love to see those pictures in a few years, its one of my girls favorite things to do, look at all the pictures in our albums! We waited until oldest dd was 3 to go but because we got hooked the other 2 started as little ones and we all had a great time whether they remember it or not, I still remember my littlest AnnaBelle at 13 months leaning into Mickey to try to put her mouth on his nose....its priceless and the best picture ever:)

You are making memories that will be recorded for her to see in the future. Please go and enjoy. Have a magical birthday celebration that will be the first of many more to come in Disney.

Well you are crazy! Along with the rest of us :banana::banana:

as for me and my crew - all 3 of our kids were to the World before they were 4 months old and we live in Wisconsin.

Have a great trip!

I guess some folks think that you shouldn't have a vacation that you may enjoy, just because the child won't remember it?

Gee, I'm so sorry that when we lived on Oahu my DH and I took my son for weekends at Waikiki, trips to Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island, hiking through lava tubes with him in the backpack at 5 months old... He doesn't remember it, but we had a life to live.

You enjoy! Some folks just don't think you should have a life when kids come along. My kids have been traveling since they were 3 months old each, so they're used to it and love to travel. I hope you have a magical time! And happy birthday!

HAH!!!
We're doing exactly the same thing this May!!! :)
Except instead of dinner we'll be doing CP for breakfast.
I can't wait either...

I hope your trip and your baby's bday will be TONS of fun :thumbsup2

We took DD for her first Birthday. She loved every minute of it!!
We did dinner(?) at Chef Mickey's and got the greatest pic of her with Mickey's head on top of hers and she had her tongue just like his, it's hilarious!

She loved the characters and wasn't afraid of them like DS8 was when he saw them for the first time, he was 2 1/2 when he went on our first trip. I think the early exposure to the characters really helped DD not be afraid.

:yay: I hope that you all have a wonderful time and a very Happy 1st Birthday to your daughter!!

First off, I have many vacations with friends from my youth where I drank a lot, and dont remember much haha - but I knowI had a good time. :) So thats one way to look at it.

The other (more mature way) haha - is this.

YOU will remember it. YOU will remember those moments. She wont. But that doesnt MATTER. Are you not supposed to have a 1st birthday party, or celebrate her first steps either because SHE wont remember it? Thats lunacy. Of COURSE you should go. The memories YOU have will last forever.
