I have not interefered with a friends trip becuase she said her husband is very thrifty and was making all the plans.
Today I find out they are leaving on Nov 6th (maybe 4th) going to Port Orleans Riverside and paying FULL PRICE!
he said there was no free dining offered and no discounts!
granted i didnt look for his dates, but I thought FD opened up for the rest of the yr, granted it's too late now, but I am at a loss.
Is there any discount he can get at this point or is he just too late???
TIA
Barb

Free dining ends Nov 2 but doesn't start back up till Nov 11th. That week is Jersey week and they don't usually offer any discounts that week.

I know the 3rd week of april is a new england vacation week but even then (unless it coincieds with eatser) there is usally some discount offered -
Is Jersey week a school break?

It is a teacher conference and lots of people from Jersey make a week of it.

Jersey kids get the Thursday and Friday off that week so some families take there kids out the first three days. My sister is going November 2-11 and could have gotten free dining but decide to rent a camper that week to stay at fort wilderness. She was able to get a great deal on renting a 5th wheeler and is probably paying the same amount I'm paying to stay at POR. In her eyes she felt she was getting a discount since the camper has a huge bedroom with a big kitchen, living room and she saves money brining her own groceries.

I hope she isn't traveling far because gas is going to cost an awful lot of money. Plus tolls cost more for rv's.

There was a RO discount during that time that my in laws are taking advantage of Nov 3 - 9. It has long since expired. Do AAA discounts expire? They might could look into that or possibly booking through Orbitz or somewhere. Better than nothing!!

Thanks for the all the info- I can't beleive they waited until this week to book - UGH!

They could book through AAA and get the room discount available. The discount varies by "Disney season" but better than nothing.

She's renting a camper from a place down in Orlando so she's flying down. They bring the camper to fort wilderness and set it up on her site and for a little bit more she gets a golf cart too. She own a camper but it's a long drive (24+ hours) and just wants to get there as soon as she can. She was thinking about staying at POR to get free dining but loves camping too much.

This reminds me of my dad. We always had an rv growing up and stayed at FW. When I had a conference at BW and my parents drove up from W Palm Beach, they had 12 plastic grocery store bags for their clothes and toiletries since they didn't own luggage. The bellman put them all on his cart and wheeled them to our room! I was glad my coworkers didn't see that. Lol bMy dad liked the resort, but missed walking around FW.

Now THAT'S funny:rotfl2: I think I would be embarrassed but that sounds like something my in-laws would do. After this trip, I think I'll be looking into doing the same thing (renting a trailer) iv camped in fort wilderness twice before and loved it. Hay, just noticed your from CT. I live in Rhode Island very close to the CT line (Thompson/Putnam ct)
