I've been around on the DIS for a long time and I think it is okay to post this, but if it's not, then someone can take it down. I can vouch for the person (a friend of mine) who is doing the dissertation, and I have webmasters, moderators, and members here on the DIS who can vouch for me :).

My friend is gay and is completing his doctoral dissertation. He is looking for qualified people (gay, bisexual, queer, or other sexual minority male and are over the age of 18) to participate in an online survey as part of this doctoral dissertation. If you qualify and care to participate, here is the link.

OK, obviously not hip to the new terms.

What is "queer" and how does it differ from gay or bi?

From Wikipedia "The range of what "queer" includes varies. In addition to referring to LGBT-identifying people, it can also encompass: pansexual, pomosexual, intersexual, genderqueer, asexual and autosexual people, and even gender normative heterosexuals whose sexual orientations or activities place them outside the heterosexual-defined mainstream, e.g., BDSM practitioners, or polyamorous persons."

Gay or Bi just doesn't cover it for a small percent of the population.

I have a friend who until recently was an openly out lesbian woman in a committed relationship. This friend has recently just come out as being a trans and has started the medical transition. I actually asked if that made him straight now and he said, he prefers the term "queer".
