My Fork and I Are Friends - Nov. 14 TR RL UPDATE 7/12 Pg. 22

I do the same thing you did EVERY time I go to take my vacation and spend about 90% of my day trying to will the clock to speed up lol

Ugh trip delays are NEVER fun but especially not when trying to get to the mouse!

I think that they have the gate lights on a timer depending on the season/ day of week etc..but dang it doesn't Disney get how important perfect blurry gate pics are???

I can't wait for more!!

Awww, the MKE airport. Maybe we can get a tagline "The Friendliest Place on Earth". We almost ALWAYS fly out of there, but I got a much better deal on a flight out of O'Hare, which I'm sure I'll end up regretting, but whatever.

I usual work if we have a late departure. This time I'll be coming off a week off for Christmas with my family. I'm sure we'll have the whole family togetherness thing down pat come the 9 day trip to Disney :lmao:

Hey, how about those Packers???

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRqKYXcL-2U

"Hey, is this the party???":yay:

I love your family. You all sound like so much fun!

Woot woot for Milwaukee airport! I'm a Milwaukeean. I don't really fly, but I've done a lot of pick ups and drop offs, and it is a pretty sweet airport.

What is it about Spotted Cow? I hate beer, but my DH doesn't get the big deal.

Glad you had such a smooth trip. Yikes for arriving so late, but I'm not one to complain while at Disney!

Looking forward to hearing about your TR title and possible titles!

I'm here!

Okay doesn't sound like the travel day was off to a great start.

I love it when full flights aren't actually full and you get a whole extra seat of space.

Aww that poor family :( That would suck hardcore.

You still wanted to get up at 8 after not getting in until 3? I can already see why that would be a bad idea :p

My sister will fly in on those late, after work hours, flights. But getting to bed at 3 am after working all day has got to be hard. :faint:
We prefer to sleep in our own bed and then wake up at 3:300am for a six am flight. I'm not sure that one is better than the other. But an afternoon nap is a must after that early morning flight. ::yes::

I remember when I first stumbled upon one of your older TRs. I was thinking, "Huh, that's a lot of GIFs ..." Now that I "know" you, I would feel that your TR was lacking if you didn't have any mixed in with your updates!!!

My family is so quiet for the most part other than the times when my dad goes all "old Chinese man" because that is rather loud and embarrassing (don't know if you've ever been to a real Chinese restaurant before because it's difficult to even think in all that noise!). When I read about your family's shenanigans like shouting to your mom that she has to wait for you anyway, I feel as if there's balance in my life, haha. My older brother used to punch me in the arm (haha, and still does!) when I act wacky in public or do anything that might draw attention to us!

Just saw the bat signal :jumping2: Yeah, I'm a little slow... And not the sharpest crayon in the box either... :lmao:

Sorry the flight was delayed, but at least it wasn't cancelled and you got to Disney for yet another amazing trip!!!

And as for the Spotted Cow beer... We drive 3 hours just so we can bootleg it back to Iowa... It's that good!!! :thumbsup2

Good Lord, I LOVE your family (despite your choice of football teams ;)).

If we didn't have to park the car for two weeks in Milwaukee, I'd love to try that airport some time.

The guy at the airport story is hysterical.

I'm glad you made up some of that hour delay. Always good to make up some of that time. I remember you posting on FB that your flight was delayed an hour.

I'd be exhausted by then too and wanted to hit the sack.

That sounds like such a long day and night. I know leaving late the night before gets you to Disney faster, but I imagine you were exhausted by 3am. I don't have that kind of stamina. Not to mention I follow the HIMYM philosophy that nothing good happens after 2am. :rotfl2:

Your conversation with the workers at the airport was awesome. Guy totally had it coming for being a 49ers fan. I'll even give you credit where credit is due for the Packers defeating my team last weekend. :sad1:

Foreshadowing is never good...

Ugh, work drama and a 2:30 am arrival, I would have been beyond cranky bit at least a Friday beer was had. Love, love, love your nails. Never seen anything like that before. Can't wait to hear what all the trip report possibilities mean. That looks like Jesus has me particularly intrigued. Did he display himself in some food and wine flan, did Popadon grow a mane suddenly, oh so many options. With your family clearly there are no limits.

If we didn't have to park the car for two weeks in Milwaukee, I'd love to try that airport some time.

No one's going to steal your car in Milwaukee. :) You could give it to me, I'll take care of it for 2 weeks. And by take care of it, I mean drive it because my car is a rust bucket. :rotfl2:

I think they have the "limo" or shuttle to get to the airport, though.

Kay...so I'm finally catching up on my trip reporting..but it's nearly midnight & I've had a bottle of wine...

..what kind of world do i live in where midnight is late...

WHATEVER

yay for finally getting to disneyworld!

Good intros as always!

I think you should feel sorry for me. I'm SURROUNDED by Niner fans. And Raiders fans, but really, Raiders don't count. They. are. AWFUL! Go Pack Go!

Wow you guys got in late. Thank goodness the delay wasn't worse than it could have been! That would have suuuucked.

Uh oh. What happens next?!

My youngest loves it when we just go because I'm more fun he says. I love how you guys always have a blast.

We always try to have a lot of fun whenever we go anywhere. Otherwise, it's just boring, right? :lmao:

can't remember why I hit you with the water bottle. Probably something that dad said.... :rotfl2. I agree it did go fast for us once we landed. I was amazed that you and Julia were walking up with the luggage just as we were finishing getting the minivan.

Mmmm hmmmm. Okay then, I'll forgive you this time I supposed. Who knows what he said. Likely blamed something on me that wasn't my fault at all.

probably says more about me that my main takeaway from your update is that you get to enjoy New Glarus beer (they don't import to NY yet)

Listen, I would notice something like that too! :rotfl: That's a bummer that you're not able to get it though!

Excited to hear about the source for all the potential trip report titles

Bummer that you weren't happy with your decision to work that Friday - though probably better to realize you had made those errors then rather than not catching it until after you came back

Yeah, we had a lot of decent conversations that turned into possible report titles. That's how it generally goes. Haha.

I definitely was not happy with it. Either way with the mistakes, I couldn't fix them until we closed the next period, so it made no difference when I found them. But it was still incredibly frustrating.

Nice workers at the airport can make it a much nicer experience - so can see why you prefer the Milwaukee

glad all-in-all wasn't a terrible trip/flight/etc ... that must be a bit eerie though going past the gates of Disney

ooh, not good foreshadowing there

They really do, don't they? It makes such a difference in comparison to going to any of the airports in Chicago.

It was a pretty decent flight down, but it was strange going through the gates with everything turned out. I've never seen that before. It was like "come back in the morning!"

I know. It's not good at all. :scared1:

I'm already VERY intrigued by "That Looks Like Jesus!"

My roommate's currently very sad because the Packers beat the Patriots. She did concede that the Packers are a great team, though.

Bummer that your flight was delated, but good that the delay was only 30 minutes!

I honestly would have been crushed if I rolled up to Disney and there were no lights on the gates :sad2:

Everyone and their mother is staying at Wilderness Lodge this year!!! I AM SO JEALOUS. I'll just be here singing "Part of Your World" to myself.

Hahaha, yeah, the "That Looks Like Jesus!" one is actually pretty funny.

Oh, I'm sorry for your roommate. They're still leading their division though, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. The game was a really good one.

It was kind of depressing, I'm not gonna lie. I was all ready to take a picture and all that good stuff and....nothing. Kinda sad.

I know! It was crazy, I haven't stayed there in the longest time, and now all of a sudden everyone is Wilderness Lodging it up!

ugh - long travel day, or should I say night. Is it like a 3 hour flight? I like taking later flights, but getting in at 1:30 am is a little late, for sure!

Boo to a bad send off at work. Never fun to have something go wrong before you had to leave on va-kay!

But you are here, so let the fun begin! :cool1: Love your carry-on. It's really cute.

Truly, it was like a night. It was late, and later than we wanted it, but there just weren't any other options. One of the only issues with flying out of Milwaukee, sometimes there aren't as many flight time options. So we just have to take what we think is best for our schedule. Our flight is anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours depending on if we pick up speed at all. Generally they list it as 3 hours, but we generally get there in 2.5.

Thanks! I love my carryon too. It's a Kipling.

Subbing!

I go away for Thanksgiving, and not only do you start a new trip report, but it's already on page 6!

Looking forward to going back and reading.:thumbsup2

Hahaha, I know! Crazy how fast I got responses. They'll slow down a bit though, I'm sure.

Travel Days, even when things go smoothly, can just be long.

Looks like you all powered through but getting in at 1:30 am :faint:

They truly can be. We generally fly late instead of flying early, but I think in May we're going to fly at 6am.

It wasn't as bad as it sounds. We were all excited to go, so getting up in the morning wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

That reminds me of one time coming back from Germany, I go to the luggage carousel, and my brand new soft suitcase was majorly torn and spilling clothing all over the place. I had to stuff everything into it, and go find the luggage damage reimbursement office in the bowels of Newark Airport, then fill out a form, and stuff all my stuff into a big black plastic bag. On the positive side, they *did* give me a check in the mail for more than I paid for the luggage, so I had that going for me...

Oh no that's horrible! I haven't had anything like that happen before, but I felt so terrible for them! I couldn't imagine, I would be so furious. At least you got more money for the luggage that you had paid!

subbing !!!

Yay, I'm glad you're here Rosie!

Gotta love travel days! :rolleyes1

Ooooh, that's a bummer that you found a month-end mistake. That's just the worst feeling, knowing you (usually) can't go back and fix it and have to tell others about it. :headache: I've been there before. At least you were able to make a quick escape that day, I guess.

I can't even tell you how frustrated I was. I so rarely make mistakes, but our corporate offices sped up our close timeline, and there was another layer of stress and an accelerated timeline that I think added to it. With the new deadline looming, we all made a few errors.

Too bad your flight was delayed. That is already a late arrival without the delay (and I'm saying that as a night owl). Glad you all managed okay. Your sandwich looks really good, by the way! :thumbsup2

Huh, I didn't realize they turned off the lights at night. Must be pretty late, like after midnight, because I know we've arrived late before and they were on. :confused3

Ugh, not good foreshadowing... Looking forward to hearing about it anyway! :goodvibes

Thankfully we made up time, so we didn't land that much later than we were originally supposed to anyway. The sandwich was really good! I was happy that we had the time to eat there before we left.

I haven't arrived after midnight in quite a while, so I didn't realize the lights would be turned off either!

Oh yes, foreshadowing everywhere!

Ha... I call him KaeperDINK. Hate that guy. (Though Tom Brady is worse... Such a baby!)

We got in extremely late once... And stupidly had an ADR for the next morning at 8am. Won't do that again, esp now that I have a small person that I must travel with. Can't wait to hear about the first day!

OMG, I know! I actually don't hate Brady. I think because to me he just comes off more like a perfectionist. Kaepernick just comes off as a jack to me. :lmao:

I never plan early ADR's when we fly in the night before. I also never plan ADR's too close to my arrival time even when we fly in early too, because you know. Unforeseen occurrences.

I like your nails!

I would not have gone back home after that text from SW either, an hour delay is not much, and sometimes they move the time back up!

Having Pre-check at MKE is almost unnecessary, half the time they let people through that line anyway. I love that airport :cool1: I'll be there in just under 3 weeks :thumbsup2

Wow, you arrived so late! And no lights on the sign? That stinks.

Thanks! I really liked how those customs turned out.

It really wasn't too much. If it had been a 2 hour delay, I would have suggested to my family that we stop and eat somewhere else prior to getting to the airport, but 1 hour wasn't too bad.

I know! We had like 5 people in front of us, they only had one person checking everything anyway.

It did stink. It wasn't the grand welcome we were expecting. :rotfl2:
