How do I go about getting a credit?

I have never noticed my flight go down before, so this is the first time ever for a credit.

Depends on the airline.

Sometimes it's best to check the change policy. Some airlines you need to call for your credit, make sure you keep the same seats.

If it's Southwest? Go to Travel Tools...Change Reservations and enter
your current dates and select each leg. Hold on to your Conf# for future
reservations.

Well the credit wasn't as much as I thought it would be, but $10 is $10. They apparently go by the final price including taxes and fees.

I don't know how but the flight is more than my original flight and the fees now have dropped. It's rather confusing. I didn't think the taxes and fees changed much unless you were landing at another airport (layover) but I guess it can change by almost double.

OP - This information is always available on your airline's website. It appears that Alaska airlines charges a change ticket fee when you have not bought a fully refundable ticket. Has the price of your ticket gone down enough to cover that?

I called in and they gave me a $10 credit to use within a year. No mention of a fee.

Once you find the spot online to get the credit, it's super-easy. DH now has $10 credit for his flight to WDW in Sept (DS and I are on miles) b/c the cost keeps going down.
