My First trip with "S" (Boyfriend) 10/17/13

We were disappointed with the lobster tail (Hops & Barley) - very small portion and it was rubbery with little taste. On the other hand the two highlights were the mussels at New Zealand and the cheese at Ireland.

In our first full day we didn't even hit half the booths and still managed to walk 7 miles!

The walking helps you feel like you are earning the extra calories. Thanks for the heads up on the lobster, might save my $ for something better. (maybe the cheese at Ireland, I think that was already on my Must taste list)

Still sick.
Chest congestion now. (the worst)

Starting to sort my pre-bought supplies, accessing what I might still need, sorting through the clothes I might pack,

Wait for it...

My washing machine broke down this weekend.

Fine, I will wash stuff by hand and deal with it AFTER my vacation!

I think (aside from work where I have no choice) that is my new mantra for the next two weeks.
"I will deal it After my vacation"

Fist a real life update:
Still sick, it got to my lungs. Still, I am slowly recovering and think I will be well enough in time to travel.

:hourglass

I combed over the menus for the Food and Wine Festival once more and read a few live updates and reviews.
I have made a priority list of things to try (this is the short list I actually am planning to try at least one thing, food, beverage or both from Every booth)
My Food Must Haves:

Spinach and Paneer Pocket (Africa) Sounds good, have had a similar dish without the pocket.

Crispy Pork Belly w/ Black Beans, Onions, Avocado, and Cilantro (Brazil) This just sounds Amazing to me, there is nothing listed there that I dont like, and in fact, as I have said on many occasions, I LOVE avocado. This looks like a win for S except the cilantro, which he has a strong distaste for. Wonder if it is just a garnish we can scrape off or is cooked in?

Canadian Cheese Soup (Canada) Never had it, and in all my DIS-surfing it one of the food I hear Most about (aside from the Dole Whip, which I also have never had). I LOVE cheese so this looks like another solid win.

Almond Crusted Blue Cheese Souffle w/ Fig Jam (Cheese Booth) Once again a dish that lists nothing but food favorites. (not Sure yet what wine to pair this with&any suggestions? )

Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and Honey (Greece) Sounds interesting, again love cheese, love pistachios, love honey.

Tuna Poke (Hawaii) Ever sine I discovered the joys of Sushi and realized that Tuna was AMAZING raw or rare, I cannot get enough. I also love seaweed Salad. This is a dish that looks and sounds dangerously addictive to me.

Lobster and Seafood Fishermans Pie (Ireland) Sounds like a good solid yum.

My BEVERAGE Must Haves:
(Disclaimer this is an oddly short list because I am only including things I have not had before, and no beer because really, I would try a small sip of all of them if I had a chance we love beer and will be having Plenty, the list would be too long if I mentioned all of them)

Avocado Margarita (Mexico, but not at the booth) Been promising myself this one for a Long time. I hope it lives up to the hype

Terrazas Reserva Torrontes (Argentina) DBF and I have been really into South American Reds lately.

La Face Neige Apple Ice Wine (Canada) Highly recommended to me and I have never had it before.

Nicolas Feuillatte Rose (Desserts and Champagne) Another Recommendation

Ouzo (Greece) - I am pretty sure, based off of what I know about its flavor profile, that I will NOT like this. That said I have never tried it and it is such an iconic drink that I feel I should. So I will. I will save my Spanakopita for after as a palate cleanser if need be)

Sake (Japan) - any I have not had before are on the priority list and S is right there with me. We likes good Sake.

For some reason I am now hungry and thirsty

UPDATE: Still have lingering symptoms of my Fall Yuck but I do feel like I am recovering somewhat.

Saturday "S" and I went through all the stuff I had been accumulating such as:
Snacks
HandWipes
Suncreen
Ponchos
BackPack
Charging Cords
and do on... My smaller suitcase was stuffed full (seemed like a good place for the collection) and this did not even include any clothes.

We reviewed my lists, divided up the stuff for the checked bags, went to the store for a few remaining items, and discussed the game plan again.

He was a little bug eyed but impressed by my lists.

He then asked me a question that was music to my ears, "Would you mind making me a packing list?"
I had been wanting to but did not wish to be pushy.

:rolleyes1

174 hours till We arrive in Orlando!

I am so busy at work I do not have time to be excited right now.

I am sure I will be nutz this weekend with anticipation!

Of course my mom will be visiting (I love her but this is slightly bad timing and not my idea)

My washing machine is still dead and I have not packed at all because I have not cleaned my clothes. (I see a Laundromat in my future)

If I did not have a good, solid packing list I would be panicking right now.

In 48 hours I will be in Fl trying to fall asleep in anticipation of my Magic Kingdom day!

I'm with you on trying the avocado margarita!!! We leave on Saturday!!! Have a wonderful trip!!
