My first trip report 09/16-09/21

This trip was for my son's 9th birthday. This year I gave each of my 3 children the offer of a birthday party with friends or a family trip to the fort. So far they have all chosen the Fort! Works for me I have trained them well

A little disclaimer: I forgot to take a picture of my clothesline...I know.. I know.. how could I have overlooked such an important part of my trip report! I havent a clue All I can say is yes I did have one..no I dont have proof of it

So here we go
Day 1 Thurs sept 16th
Loaded up the truck with all of our equipment and headed to pick all the kids up from school. We were on our way Home to FtW by 3:30. We arrived by 4:15 and heard what we had been looking forward to for weeks..Welcome Home! I never get tired of hearing that

So with all of us with huge grins on our faces we go inside to check-in and whats this... what is she saying when I hand her my ID and registration # ..I thought my ears were deceiving me.. this cannot be happening not on the day of my son's birthday..........

" Im sorry but we do not have a reservation in your name" huh.. but here is my reservation # and the credit card.. nope..oh yes we have your kids on the reservation but not you they are listed under So and So. Ok so now Im really confused I dont know this person! Long story short, somehow,someway the computer system glitched my reservation with someone else's andddd heres the fun part...they cant let me in til this person shows up so that the situation can be sorted out OH NO no way! Manager time... so after about an hour of looking up all of my past reservations, seeing that it is my name that matches my childrens, providing information upon information and I believe a DNA Match J/k they finally agreed with me that I am me. That my kids are mine, and this is our trip! They are going to finally let me in Its now 5:30 and we have to kick into high gear now if we are going to get set up, and make it over to Beaches and Cream for my son's suprise b-day party!

We get our site # and do another little excited that we are in the 1500's again. Time to unload and get set up.
In the middle of setting up my sister and our friend arrived to head over to Beaches and Cream with us. Our friend has never pitched a tent before so my daughter decided to give her a lesson. My dd is awesome she can have it setup and ready to be loaded in 10min

With camp all setup it is time to get ready to head over to beaches and cream for none other than.....You guessed it.. the kitchen sink

And now we are off to BC, none of us have been there on any prior trips so we are really looking forward to it! I wanted to do something different this year instead of birthday cake and this was the perfect replacement. When we arrived there they said it would be about a 20min wait since we were a large group of 9. No problem there..it would give us a little chance to explore. Once inside the atmosphere was perfect..festive.. just the right place for a birthday. I talked to our waitress and let her know that it was a surprise and that noone knew what I was ordering. I gave her a candle for the kitchen sink. When she brought it out my sons eyes were priceless.. he was so amazed at the size of it! All he could say was is this for me?? No way!! We sang Happy Birthday and the whole restraunt joined in. My son was very very happy as you will see with the pictures. He told me later "Mom this is the best birthday EVER ". Guess it was a hit Even with 9 of us eating we still left just a little bit in the bottom of the sink.

I dont think he realized at this point that this was to share

It was a Great Night and A Great birthday celebration, so it is back to Ftw we go with full bellies and happy faces to call it a night.
But.. not til I let these kids work off some of that sugar

Do y'all tent it without air conditioning?

I tell you that thing is HUGE and I dont even think they let me have any brownie.. see my boy with his spoon..vicious I tried to get it all done but wow... it took me over an hour just to get that much done. I promise to get it out as fast as possible

Wide awake @ 7am had to have the DD to the airport this morning by 11am...sorry about the delay have it done soon! I wish I still had that sugar high! Trust me the armadillos are in full swing at that time too! Took me a little GC tour around 2am when I was there and scared quit a few of them into doing flips

So glad my kids opt for the fort! Trust me I get the same reaction from them..totally not a tough decision for them to make. They Always choose the fort. Makes Mom Very Happy

Thanks so much, I really enjoy reading your TR's as well..Dont think I can come close to yours So glad your enjoying it!
1500 is my favorite loop, love being so close to everything. Nope, no air conditioning, I am quite comfortable at night without. This trip was great because we had several nights of cooler weather and it was beautiful. We even managed in June and July without it, cant say it wasnt Hotter than heck in there in the daytime but the nights were fine. All they could tell me was somehow my name got switched on their reservation list in the computer the whole ordeal was crazy I have never ran into this problem before but luckily the manager was able to figure it out. Thank goodness cause after an hour I was getting really worried. My reservation sheet had everything correct but their computer system didnt. Just happy the rest of the trip was amazing and we had a fantastic time!
