DH and I recently stayed at YC from 4/25 to 4/30. He won a trip from work which is why we got to stay there, otherwise it's too rich for our blood :) However if given the chance to stay Deluxe that has always been my first choice to try so I was so glad that's where we got to stay.

I will say that I loved this resort. I loved the location, I loved the service, I loved the pool. But since we are on the DIS and you guys like a lot of detail I am going to give an honest and critical review.

We were part of a conference, his company provided breakfast everyday and we had two dinners. The rest of the time we were free to be on our own. I thought the conference space was great. The food was very good and the service was attentive.

Check in was a breeze. We checked in at about noon. There was no line and we were told that there were a ton of rooms available. He asked us if we had any room requests (which we didn't), then he said he'd give us something with a view. We were on the 4th floor overlooking the quiet pool. It was a very nice location.

I will finish later, I need to tend to the kids :)

I always stay at the Beach Club and I love everything about it; the pool, the food, oh and most importantly the walk to Epcot and DHS! :) I am actually staying at the Yacht Club for the first time next thursday! We are staying at the Club Level with Concierge Service so I am excited to see how that goes.

Ok, so as I stated before we had a nice pool view room. I was surprised at how big the room felt. Staying at a value and reading the square footage of the deluxe rooms, I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but actually walking into the rooms, it felt much bigger.

I liked how there was a stand alone dresser. I also liked the enclosed closet. It was great to have a balcony too!

Now here is where I will get a bit critical. The room was in rough shape. It wasn't dirty, it was just old. It seems to me like YC is in major need of a refurb. The balcony furniture was white, but it was dirty looking...like maybe it needed to be sandblasted. The cabinet that hides the fridge was broken, so when we opened it the door practically fell off. The fridge itself looked like it had seen better days and one of the bottom "feet" of the fridge had fallen off so it was lopsided. Also, they still have the old safes with the key entry. I was spoiled by the AoA locks where you just slide your key and enter a PIN, so much more convenient.

Back to the positives. Housekeeping was great. Even though the room was run down, it was very clean. The common areas of the hotel were also very clean and well kept. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Transportation was just ok. I didn't like making stops at all the hotels when traveling to MK, AK, and DTD. I get it, the resorts are close together but it just feels like a bit much. Because it was just me and DH and we disliked the bus service so much we just spent most of our time at DHS and Epcot. I loved being able to walk to the resorts...so convenient! The way they ran Magical Express compared to the values was great though. It seemed like there was a dedicated employee there keeping guests informed and when a bus pulled up they shouted out that the Magical Express bus arrived and for what time it was for. At the values they just kind of leave you to fend for yourself and it gets stressful.

The pool area was cool. I liked the feeling of the sand. The slide was fun. They were checking key cards and giving out bracelets when we were there. I liked having access to hot tubs and again, coming from a value...it was nice to have towels at the pool. The beach area around the hotel was super nice too. Just very relaxing.

Ok, I still have more...but I'll be back later.

Thanks for your review! We've stayed at BC, and are looking forward to trying YC in August. Sorry your room was run down. Did you go down to ask for repairs? They prob would have fixed or replaced fridge, and fixed the door.
The YC rooms look beautiful from the pics, my daughter (27) thinks she prefers it to the BC room decor, which we loved too!

BC has the keyed safe too. Actually I prefer it. Either way you have to dig around for something, key or card. We had the card swipe safe at Poly and I found it a bit glitchy.

Nice room view upgrade!
Looking forward to the rest of your review!

Heading to YC for the first time in a few weeks, so I appreciate your thoughtful review -- good and bad! Glad to hear that your overall experience was positive. Thanks for sharing. :goodvibes

Sorry your room was worn. The buses at Epcot resorts can get a little frustrating.

The view of the quiet pool there is very nice and relaxing. We had a second floor view when we were there. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Thanks for the review! We actually stayed at YC last month for the 1st time and I had been worried about reports of the rooms being worn, but our room was in perfect condition!!! :thumbsup2

Sorry you got a dud. :(

We enjoyed the YC, but WL still has our hearts! :lovestruc

I agree they would have addressed the room fridge/etc if I complained. Thing is the trip was paid for by DH's work and with just the two of us we weren't even using the fridge, so I just let it go! I wasn't upset about it, it was just an observation.

The gift shop was nice. It wasn't the biggest but it had enough.

I didn't find the mug refills all that convenient and I missed a food court. Boardwalk Bakery had just opened back up when we went but it wasn't all that appealing to me.

So to sum it up, I think if you like to spend tons of money on your vacation this is the resort for you :) I say that kind of tongue and cheek, but let me explain myself. Our family of 5 is one income. We have to work and save very hard to take a Disney vacation. The YC/BC area, while super nice, is just too expensive for my taste. The room prices are high, plus with the lack of food court, eating out for 5 people doing near constant sit downs would be astronomically pricey. They make it too easy to spend money! It's much easier after a long day at the parks to take in a restaurant at your hotel or one of the other hotels than worry about doing a QS in the parks. Not to say we would never splurge on a deluxe, but since I have a young family I would like to try the Poly, because of monorail access. Also DH really wants to try AKL.

I liked the deluxe perks with the extra toiletries and hot tubs and towels at the pool. However, at this point those extras don't out weigh price. We really enjoyed AoA this past August and will most likely return there. Although, we did take some time on this trip to walk around POR and it was very nice there...so we may try a mod next time! That's what's great about Disney, lots of choices.

Thanks for your review. We've never stayed at the YC, but have stayed at the BC and while the YC is one resort I want to try, the limited CS options is an issue for us. We are used to CS at the other deluxe resorts and the Epcot resorts just don't cut it for us. The limited CS options work for some people, but for our family, we need more variety than what is offered without having to go into Epcot. I'm glad you were able to try the YC and I hope you are able to try other deluxes on future trips. The Poly is our favorite, but we also loved AKL.

They don't give you towels at value resort pools? Where do you get your towels? Do you bring them from home?

We too are a one income family and we save for our trips and enjoy staying deluxe because it feels more like a vacation to us. I guess that's why there are so many different hotels to choose from. Everyone likes something different.

Thanks for your review.

You use the towels from your room

I've always stayed at the BC. Never liked the theme of the YC but I love the amenities these resorts offer. And yes about the towels. I just did a weekend at AoA and forgot that the value resorts don't provide towels at the pool!!! You have to use your room ones which is a pain when you are needing more towels.

When staying value, we take our room towels to the pool, right before we head down to the pool, I call housekeeping for more towels and they are there in the room when we come back. Easy and no big deal!

OP, we felt just like you when splurged on the Poly. Beautiful, fun, glad we tried it, but for now we.go the mod route. Perfect, happy medium!

Thanks for your detailed review!

Thanks for your review! I always love walking through YC and want to stay there but stop myself just before doing so since I'm originally from New England and think I want a different "feel" :)
I also wish YC had DVC so I could rent points for a room and not pay that full price but maybe someday!
Glad you had a nice time and found it relaxing - thats one of the reasons I love the Deluxe resorts!

I'm glad to hear the overall experience was great for you. Originally we were debating on the BC/YC for our vacation next year but have since decided to go with a moderate which we think will work best for us in all ways.

Still on the "to do" list to experience different things but i'm glad to hear about the details so I can keep that in mind should we try it sometime !
