I dont know what I need! what should I bring to my first ever crop? I have to plan for me and mom (totally clueless about sbing)

I just got back from a crop! I have lots of questions about your upcoming crop - how long is it? Who's putting it on? Are you in a SB store or another facility? You need to know what type of things will be available to you - for example, we always have cropping tools available at our crops, so we don't have to pack them, and that saves time (and our backs). The one thing people forget the most is to bring a pillow to sit on or for your back, because you need to be comfortable!

To help your mom, you may need to make some page kits for her that will be easy to work on since she's new.

When I go to a crop I always try to have a theme for my pages. For instance I will do all beach pages or all baby pages. That way I only bring embellishments, papers, etc. that fit the theme. It really cuts down on my packing. If you have a cricut make sure you bring an extension cord or power strip in case you are seated far away from an outlet.

Were just doing a one day one at our local SB store. Mom and I will be working on the same theme (our vacation).
Included:
Your own 6ft table to spread out your crafts

Snacks and beverages

The use of our various tools

The ability to shop our store if you have forgotten something or need to add to your project

Those are the easy ones - because you can buy what you forgot.

I always take my basic tool kit - scissors, paper trimmer, black, white, metallic pens, pushpin and mat, pencil, eraser, ruler, and I always kit my pages beforehand or make a project box - ie disney trip, box has all photos, papers and embellis for that project, but not necessarily 'counted out' or organized by page.

and make sure to bring lots of tape/glue. You can go through quite a bit at an all day crop. But I guess you could always buy it there if you need too. A seat cushion comes in handy too.

Yep, the tape/glue issue - that's the one that always bites me in the all-day crops where you can buy supplies. I seem always to have enough adhesive when I go to a weekend crop, but always seem to run out when I'm at a one-day crop. I guess I must just have a different mindset when I pack for a one-day, with the idea that I'm at a scrapbook store and just can pick some up. Then I end up going through twice as much adhesive, it seems!

As long as you have the use of their tools, I would just pack a corner rounder, if you use it, and a personal trimmer - like Linda says, a basic tool kit. If you haven't already made one up for home use, you should put one together, cause once you have one, it's easy to get up and go!

I haven't done much scrapping away from home, but I did remember the things that I wish I had brought along!!

Band-aids.... I regularly give myself paper cuts and small cuts from my trimmer blade!

Small waste receptacle... they only had big trash barrels around the perimeter of the room. I need a small trash right next to me!

Small pencil cup.... I traveled with my pens, pencils, knives, rulers, etc all in a bin, but then I wanted them handy on my work space, so I wished I had a small pencil cup. And a pencil sharpener is nice too.

Post-it notes.... I frequently want to add one more "something" to a page when I return home and I need a way to make a note about that and stick it to the appropriate page.

PHOTOS! I almost forgot them once! I had the papers, adhesives, tools, etc... but almost left the photos behind!!

Those are the things that I am most likely to forget. HTH...............P

Post it notes are a great idea! I often forget exactly why I didn't consider a layout finished once I get home, and this will help me remember!

I love the post it note idea, you're never quite finished with a page and when I get home I often wonder what I wanted to add. I'll be sure to do that next time.

I also just bring a small brown lunch bag that I can tape to the end of the table for scrap papers. Then you can just cut away...

My basic tool kit is in a plastic utility box about 2 inches deep 4 inches wide and 8 inches long. Before that, it was in a little cardboard necklace box.

cutter bee scissors
black journaling pen
gold, silver and white gel pens
stampin up 4x4 inch mat pack and a push pin
pencil
eraser
ruler
1 inch square brown ink pad for distressing
emery board
popsicle stick

cutter bee scissors
black journaling pen
brown journalling pen
white gelly rolls pen
post it notes (when I remember them lol)
pencil
eraser
ruler
brown ink pad for distressing
emery board
popsicle stick
corner rounder
tape runner and refills
glue dots
glue pens (I like Zig pens)
cutter bees tweezers
standard size hole punch
mini travel stapler with staples
empty ziploc bags to stash unused photos and embellishments
tape (to tape my trash bag down)

I have other things but this is my "Go-To" list

Distressing is when you take the ink pad and run it over the edges of the paper for a worn/dirty look. Here I used a green ink to darken the edges of the paper.

Do tell me more about distressing! I have never heard of this before (Im new to this)

In addition to ink you can distress with sandpaper. It looks especially good with paper that has a white core. I use this technique alone or with ink.
