I went to Trader Joe's yesterday looking for something good to eat for dinner. I never go down the bread aisle, too much temptation for me, I am a bread-aholic.
They tricked me, they moved the bread and it was right where I had to go. But then I saw LOW-CARB. I picked up a loaf and it was soft. It looked like whole wheat bread, and wasn't as expensive as I had heard in the past on different low carb boards.
I took it home and had my first piece of toast in 4 months. It was delicious. I had been ready for it to taste like sawdust or worse but it was really good. Of course I had butter on it but the flavor was great.
It was "Food for Life" brand and each slice has 4 carbs. I had toast again today for bfst, but I sliced the one piece into two thinner slices with a very sharb bread knife. I don't want to overdo my carbs on bread after all the work I have done to lose the weight and inches.
I also picked up some buns that are individually wrapped. I don't remember the name brand of these, but they were 4 in a box. They had hamburger buns and cinnamon raisin buns. I picked the cinnamon raisin because I thought it would be a nice treat with my 11 pm decaf tea. Each bun has 3.3 gms of carbs.
I will let you know what they taste like, but even if they are terrible I will continue to buy the bread, it was that good.

Too funny, I was just on "Food for Life's" website yesterday. They have lots of good varieties of breads. I saw they had a low-carb bread and was going to post about it here, but got sidetracked and forgot. Then I saw your post and as I read it I was reminded that I didn't post yesterday!

Great find. I'm not a low-carber myself, but I'm sure this will allow the low-carbers out there to enjoy some "bread."

:bounce: The buns you bought are O So Lo!! They are wonderful! My favorite is the Banana Nut - toasted with lots of butter! :) The sourdough ones are great for making sandwiches!

Isn't it wondeful to find good tasting low carb bread products? The banana nut O So Lo buns are also fantastic with a bit of cream cheese-yum!

You guys are SOOOOOO lucky being able to buy low carb products off the shelf!

In the UK they're just not readily available....some things are available if you send off for them mail order (but that works out really expensive!)

We can't even buy Ketostix easily - our biggest chain pharmacy (Boots) has a policy of not selling them to Atkins people!!

Hopefully the UK will catch up soon!

I don't do Atkins, I could never give up my carbs!! :D I am happy for you guys that you're able to have good tasting low-carb bread.
