My first trip report:

I’m going to try to keep this, well, fairly brief, but I wanted to try my hand at a trip report! My wife, daughter, Mother and I just returned from a 7 day visit to Disney World in Orlando. We had an absolutely FABULOUS time! As I’m new to this, I’ll try to put things into an easy to follow and short format. First things first.

We left for The World on April 27th from Lehigh Valley International Airport. (ABE for those of you from this area).  We had a non stop flight into Orlando\Sanford airport. The flight was great, and just over two hours. We used a Mears taxi to get to our resort, All Star Movie, and had a great driver named Patrick who we also used for the return trip.

Remember, this is our first trip to Disney in over 13 years, so while a lot of things were familiar, many were new as well. (This was the first trip for our daughter who is now almost 5).
General trip info:

Accommodations – All Star Movie Resort; Stayed in Fantasia building; 7 days, 6 nights
Park tickets – 7 day World pass without park hopper
Dining plan – Yep – and it was the BEST money we EVER spent!
Crowds – VERY reasonable. In the entire 7 days, we only used fast pass maybe 3-4 times, and that was for Soarin’ and, of all things, Peter Pan’s flight, LOL. Otherwise, wait times were generally 5-20 minutes.
Weather – Superb – no rain; 80-90 during the day with little humidity.
Dinner impressions – I could write a book on this. We were so pleased with our meals, I almost felt bad not tipping extra. I’ll brief each meal in the days below, but I must say that Boma was as fantastic as I have read on these boards, and other places!

Upon arrival at All Star Movies, we were greeted promptly, had our luggage checked, and checked in. Our room was not going to be ready until 2-3pm, so we decided to spend our first day at MGM studios, as it was of the least interest to us.

Day 1 MGM

We arrived at MGM Studios at roughly 1pm after hopping the bus from the resort. Surprisingly, to me at least, things have not chanced much in the past 13 years at this park. While we had an OK time, our group was rather tired from getting up at 4am, traveling etc., and to be honest, we probably could have just spent the day at the hotel pool and had more fun. We enjoyed the auto parade, rode a few of the rides and caught the Little Mermaid show, as well as a few others. Had dinner had Pizza Planet and called it a night.

Day 2 Animal Kingdom

This was our first visit ever to the Animal Kingdom. We loved it! I think Disney did a fantastic job on this park. The atmosphere made us feel like we really were someplace different. We headed straight back to the safari, and were able to ride within 10 minutes. Loved it, and got to see quite a host of animals. (We were on the ride by 9:15). Rest of the day was just as good. As noted above, no wait times for anything over 15 minutes or so. Lunch was eaten at the Flame Tree Barbecue, a few snacks throughout the day, and dinner at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boma. All I can say is the atmosphere there; the food, and the wait staff were simply exceptional. HIGHLY recommended!

Day 3 Magic Kingdom

The look on our daughter face when first seeing the castle was worth the price of this trip alone. To be that age again, and “believe” that strongly. Wow, just wow…

In general, MK is just as I remembered it. That is both good and bad as I thought things would change a bit more over the years. For my daughter of course, it was ALL new and wondrous. For my wife and I, it was like a very pleasant trip down memory lane. I like some of the changes, and dislike some of the others.

Dinner this evening was at Park Fare\Grand Floridian. In a nutshell; Fabulous. Got some great pictures of my daughter and the princesses. All in all, a fantastic day.

Day 4 – Epot

Epcot is just as I remembered it. My ONLY complaint is “what the heck did they do to Journey into the imagination”? They took away all the little cool stuff I remember, and added nothing. Eh, either way, Soarin’ and Test Track were great, and again, no lines, although we did use a fast pass for the 3rd trip on Soarin’. 

Again, in keeping this short, a great day. Dinner was in Germany at the Biergarten. Food was great, service even better.

Day 5 and 6

These were 2nd days at MK and Epcot in that order. A great time was had by all, dinner was at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, and Norway\Akershus. Both were great, and frankly, I was very surprised at just how good the “Thanksgiving Dinner” was at Liberty Tree. It was one of the dinners we had thought about cancelling, and I’m glad we didn’t. The food was excellent. Oh, we also had Breakfast at Ohana and had a BLAST!

Day 7

Homeward bound, but not until 6:30PM, so we spent the first half of the day back in Animal Kingdom. My daughter loves it there, and I rode Everest. She is really annoyed that she is not tall enough to ride yet, but hey, she’ll be happy next year!

The trip back to the airport was quite distressing. MASSIVE vacation depression hit ALL of us. Basically, my wife and I started planning our next trip before we even got on the plane home, LOL.

All in all, we had an absolutely fantastic time. I got some great photos, over 800 actually that I still need to cull through, and memories that will last a lifetime.

I guess that’s about it. I realize this was not very detailed, but I didn’t want to bore anyone either. 

Until next time……..

I totally agree with Imagination. They KILLED it. I was so disappointed when I rode it. Then when it was over, all the cool fun play stuff was gone:eek: . I am so afraid the El Rio Del Tiempo is going to be bad as well. Though it needed updates, it didn't really need characters.
