Part 1: It's the computer, stupid!
I have been terrible at the fireworks game ever since beta. I did everything to speed up my computer but just couldn't master the game. My highest score was in the 120,000 range.
We bought a new computer for my son. This week I started using it when I could to play VMK. I don't stink at fireworks anymore, in fact, I'm pretty good!
Every game I have managed to complete without getting disconnected has been over 200,000 and I often finish in first place. The first day my scores were close to 200,000. The next day my scores were close to 210,000. More practice has led to scores in the 230,000+ range. I can almost see that fireworks magic pin in my inventory.
Part 2: The heartbreak of VMK
I played some awesome games on Saturday afternoon. Many scores were close to 240,000 but it didn't matter much because I was in first place anyway so I wouldn't be getting fireworks magic. I kept playing anyway, I need to practice so I can improve my scores.
I was playing my best game ever. I had about 200,000 at the end of Level 4 and I was in second place! This was going to be my big opportunity to win fireworks magic!
Then I got disconnected. 
That sucked. I'm 100% certain I would have won fireworks magic if I hadn't been disconnected. Oh well, I decided to try again but to sign off and back on every so often to prevent this catastrophe from happening again.
I played a few more games and had one really great game where I had a fair shot at getting 240,000, but only a fair shot. I had a good score at the end of Level 4 and did well in the first two stages of Level 5. It was all up to how well I did in Level 5, Stage 3 (I think I needed about 20,000 poionts). I stretched my fingers and went into a fireworks trance. I made a few mistakes but when the level ended, I had scored 240,717! Before I had time to say, "Woot," up popped the window informing me that I had been disconnected!
I laughed!
Then I called the family in to look at the screen so they could have a good laugh at my expense. I wish I had been able to get a screen shot. It would be a great candidate for the "VMK's Not So Great Moments" series of screen captures. Feel free to laugh!
Oh well, I'll earn that fireworks magic soon.
