In one of my culinary arts classes this semester, I have to do a flambe demonstration. We have 20 minutes to do it and have to come up with a menu. We have to include a protein, fruit/vegtable, and a starch.

Well, I was bored at work today and decided to try to throw a menu together. I wanted to keep things light and Summery. Here it is:

Coconut Chicken
-Sauteed chicken, flambed with Malibu Rum, with a sauce made from coconut milk, lime juice, cream, seasoning, ect.

Peach Mango Salsa
-Peaches, mangos, strawberries, peppers, tomatoes, cilantro

Macademia Nut Rice
-Rice, macademia nuts, butter, lime juice, seasoning

Garnish plate with fresh coconut shavings and lime wedges.
All the fruits and vegtables will be fresh.

So...would you eat that? I haven't tried it out yet, I just threw it together in like 10 minutes. I would LOVE to hear critiques, if something doesn't sound good, tell me how I could fix it. However, I am not going to stray away from the "tropical" or "coconut" theme. I need to start practicing at home ASAP, so any input would be GREATLY appreciated! :thumbsup2

I'm not a foodie I guess but the only thing I am not sure about is the salsa...will you have chips for salsa lol..I always have tortilla chips with my salsa but maybe this is different? Is it for the chicken?

It sounds rather yummy and I'm not big on coconut.

Only one part of the meal has to be flambe? I love the menu! Sounds perfect and flavorful. I would add some plantains with the chicken and malibu rum - yummy!

Cant wait to see how the meal comes out! Good Luck :) Save me a bite...:)

big foodie here...I would eat that in a heart beat! sounds great, i love the coconut and the salsa complete with cilantro sounds great as well.

I think the chicken and rice sound amazing, my only reservation would be the salsa because of the peppers. I'm just not sure I'd like them in with the fruits because (to me) they have such a strong flavor.

I'm sorry, I hope you don't take that they wrong way. I'm by no means a food expert and I have no culinary arts education so for all I know peppers in there is the perfect thing to do :goodvibes

Oh I appreciate the input! I was thinking the same thing about the peppers. If anything, I'll just leave the actual pepper parts out and just add a bit of pepper juice to get a bit of heat in the salsa.

That sounds fabulous! Wish I was having that for dinner tonight instead of the drivethru DH is bringing home! :rotfl2:
