Just thought I'd mention this in case it helps someone. The ad on SW says "flights as low as $65" but my flights were only $59 each way. That's better than the $77 I had previously and I made a new reservation for December :)

I wish!! But yay for you!!!!!!!

Thanks! I love it when SW does this. Both my DD and I are flying round trip for $33 total, just using our vouchers.

Have fun!

I saw ours (for Oct) had come down too! How is the credit applied? Does it go back to your card or held in your Rapid Rewards account? I also noticed the flights I have been eyeing for Nov have come down and we now enough RR miles to cover the airfare :)

ETA: I am just changing our flight, not canceling and rebooking as our return flight is actually more than what I booked it at.

Gosh that's cheap! To fly out of where we live it's $400 minimum pretty much anywhere.

Yay!! I love SW!! I'm actually using points so not only is it not costing me anything, but I'm getting points back into my account for my Sept trip (2 of us) and I was able to book another free trip for 2 for Dec since the flights were only 3100 pts each :thumbsup2

Yes, I think that's the best thing. If one of the legs was less originally, you don't have to cancel and rebook, just click "change flight" and then you can choose one or both legs to change. The points just go back into your account! So easy!

Us too, and that is cheap. Usually it is between $500 to $550 around here. We don't have direct flights to very many places. I'm so jealous of you guys who get flights for $300 and under! I checked Southwest and the prices from here haven't gone down.

I know ; right ?

Well, if it's any consolation I think that's a pretty good price coming all the way from NY! I'm only flying from Sacramento so that's what, 400 miles? Still, it's sometimes cheaper for us to fly down to Orange County than to drive. Even when it's not cheaper I still fly :rotfl: I actually live 2 hours north of the airport so it's a long, tedious drive from where I live to Anaheim. The 5 is one really ugly route IMO. I do miss the days when SW would have sale fares of $25 each way!

Oh, that's too bad! It's like that where my sister lives. Everything is quite expensive from her neck of the woods plus she doesn't live near any airports that are very large. She usually drives to my house, which is 7 hours away by car, and then we fly together. It makes for a very long trip for her, but if she flies out of her local airport the cost is astronomical.

Do you know if you used a credit card? Used a CC for our Oct flight, using points for Nov and our Oct one is the one I want to change. Doesn't really matter, just curious about how to apply the funds to future flights.

Just double checked pricing on my SW flight in Sept and Nov...Sept I saved almost 800 points!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: Nov is still the same...Happy Happy girl here!!

Oh, that's a different thing. It depends on the type of flight you booked. For some, they offer you a refund or a credit. I always take the refund because flight credits are a hassle IMO. You have to be sure and save your original confirmation number and flight info in order to apply the credit to another flight later. It's not hard, it's just that I rarely have all of that at my fingertips :rolleyes1. When you rebook or change the flight, a box will show up asking if you want to apply credits to this booking and it will tell you what to do.

I bought my mom's flight from Sacramento in early June for $59 each way. I was so excited. Mainly that we don't have to have her ride down with us lol :rotfl:

I went ahead and changed the flights, but because they were non-refundable to start with, it's only flight credits on file offered. Not ideal, but understandable. Even though it was only $10/per person less, that still saved us $80!

Thanks so much for starting this thread! By rebooking, I saved $60 total for my kids and I. (It gets saved at SW as "Travel Funds" but because we definitely fly SW a few times a year, we'll end up using the funds before they expire.)

Again, thank you! :):goodvibes

It depends on the fare level you originally booked. The "Wanna Get Away" fares go into your "Travel Fund" and must be used with 12 months. Other fare categories allow for refunds. Last year when our DLR fare dropped on SWA, we used our "Travel Fund" to help pay for a following trip to WDW.

Thank you! We actually used our points to book flights for our Nov trip and then used part of our credit to pay the required security fee on them, so we paid $0! Since we don't have any other trips currently in the works that would have us using Southwest, it worked out well.

FWIW, twice we have been told by SW that if we have not used our Travel Fund by the 12 month period to call them and they will extend it. The first time it was extended as they said, and the second time has not hit the end of 12 months so we haven't been able to test it again.
