My Experience with the NJ Canon Service Center

I sent my new Canon 50D in for service due to having gotten a hair/dust stuck above the non-serviceable focusing screen(with the focus squares on them) and the viewfinder also showed a slightly inaccurate representation of the focus resulting in inaccurate manual focus.

I sent it in on Friday the 11th of September via standard UPS shipping. It was delivered on Tuesday and I received confirmation that it was received from Canon on Wednesday. I had called a few times to check on status and they were quick to answer and very courteous. I received notice soon thereafter that the work would all be covered under warranty at no cost to me.

On Friday they shipped the unit back to me and I received it Monday(today) via next day fedex. All issues with the camera were fixed and the entire camera including sensor was cleaned.

I am incredibly impressed with Canon's service. Even if I had to pay I would have been satisfied. The turnaround time was about as quick as could be expected and they were very nice to deal with through the entire process. Given that all issues were fixed I give Canon's service a 9/10 with the only point off for having to pay to ship to NJ.

I just thought that sometimes we don't here about the times a company comes through for its customers. They all make mistakes but they deserve to be credited when they stand behind their product.

Canon has always been notorious for their good customer service unlike Nikon which has alot to be desired.
 
My experience for Nikon service for the few times I have had to use were excellent. I also believe there are some on this board that have had other experiences with Canon.
 
I had my 40D go ERR99 early this year. They were professional, prompt, and returned the camera with overnight shipping earlier than promised. Fixed the shutter assembly plus sensor clean, etc. Camera never worked better.

They are good.
