Ok, this is mostly for those fellow dis'ers who are travelling with little ones and for who waiting long periods of time is an issue.

We just got home, and our character meal ADR's were a problem. I actually ended up cancelling a couple last minute, DS said he didn't want to do anymore because he was tired of wating.

Our breakfast res at O'hana we were seated over a half our late (behind walk ins and later ADR's). After an hour and 15 minutes we had seen one character, they took a break, and we were a dozen tables between us and where they left. Because we arrived early (as suggested) to check in, that meant we had been at ohana for 2 hours. We left without seeing the characters. Very dissapointing and never again. The staff also refused to aknowledge our questions about why we were seated behind walk ins and later reservation. The food was good, but the way this all played out really was not good.

Crystal palace dinner res we were seated a half hour late as well. Again add to the fact we arrived 15 minutes early as suggested, and the wait was a little much for small kids.

Coral reef sat us right on time, and next to the tank, this one was great. Food was ok.

Trails end resteraunt at FW was also very promt, and had by far the friendliest service. The food was good, but very heavy southern style food.

Shutters (CBR) seated us promply, but the service was terrible, and excrutiatingly slow. Took 10 minutes after I asked for the check to get it, and then another 15 for her to process the card for payment. The food was yummy, and I think not all servers are probably quite as slow as ours was.

Rain Forrest Cafe in AK actually sat us early than our time when we showed up because it was raining. And they were packed. Good service as well. Yummy food. I thought the kids would love it here. But I think the noise was a little too much for them.

Mama Melroses in HS also sat us on time. The food was ok, service was OK, the drinks were yummy.

I guess in short if you are doing character meals plan on them running late. IMO there is no excuse for them to be running so late behind. I made an ADR at a certain time, they should be able to honor it. Overbooking and allowing walk ups when they are all booked or having a hard time seating people is just plain silly. Overall I was not very impressed this trip with the quality of customer service anywhere. It was a huge dissappointment over our very magical trip 3 years ago.

Sorry that was your experience, but we have had the opposite experience.

We visit Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's every visit and have never been seated late. (infact been seated ahead of adr time a couple times)
Also, we have never experienced the characters taking long to see us. We are in and out within an hour, hour and 15 mins.

Again, sorry that was your experience. Had to be frustrating.

We have an ADR at Chef Mickey's and Ohana's. I hope we don't have the same problems.

We did Chef Mickey's in November the day before Thanksgiving and were seated within 5 minutes.

Our experiences have run the gamut; we have been seated early, on time, and terribly late. Sorry to hear you had such bad experiences.

I think the key is to do sort of off-times. We were there last weekas well and the only reservation we waited for was Akerhaus and that was only about a 15 minute wait. We did cape May for breakfast (at 10:15) and dinner (around 6) and were seated both times within minutes. Chef Mickeys we had a 5:45 dinner ADR and were seated immediately. We sat in the lounge afterwards though and noticed that people coming in after 7:30 or so were waiting a long time. At Ohana's we had a 5:05 ressie and it was great. Seated right away and all of the activities were not too crowded for the kids. Crystal Palace we had a 3:30 ressie and were seated within minutes.

A lot of the food however was mediocre. Chef Mickey's was terrible, I wouldn't go back.
