My experience on AAA with dining vs AP with DDE for those on the fence.

I recently looked at my dining receipts using the DDE card last Thanksgiving and I thought I would post this info in case anyone could use it to figure out if the dining plan was worth it for them.

Our group consists of 2 adults, 2 teenage DD's and a 6 year old DD. WE planned out one sit down meal a day with CS for BF and Lunch (sometimes the sit down was for lunch and CS dinner and one day we had a sit down character BF). The other thing that happened was sometimes we only had a snack for lunch or dinner depending where we were. Like walking around WS, or fruit and veggie bowls at Capt. Cooks.

We averaged $205 per day on all food. I did not factor in the money spent on refillable mugs. I will say this, we maybe ordered 1 app. and one dessert at each sit down, but not always. There were no limits put on anyone, we ate whatever we desired.

The dining plan would have been $168 per day, with a total savings of $259 over the course of the trip. I did save about $420 using my AP room rate over the 7 nights but it would have been about $210 with AAA plus the dining savings for a total of $469 booking through AAA.

So, to conclude, it really is a wash in my opinion for our group and eating habits to use either the AP with DDE or AAA with dining.

Hope this helps someone.:wave2:

but... you can use your AP again. Plus was your AP room discount on a deluxe as well as the AAA rate?

The other benifit,IMHO, without the DDP is not having to eat all the time !

The difference between AP rate and AAA during regular season was about $33 per night.

Sorry it took so long to respond, I had to dig this one back up!!!!

So if it had been at a deluxe it would have been an 80$ savings which can be significant over a longer time. We did the DDP on our last trip for the covience factor moreso then savings. I found we were eating many things we normally wouldn't. So I don't think the DDP is that great of deal more of an opportunity to try thingd you normally wouldn't.

It was at the Poly, so it was a deluxe. The room rate per night with AP over AAA was $33 less per night. But, I did pay more for my AP than regular ticket. It is definently worth going for AP, DDE if you go back before a year is up, which is what I am trying to do in July.
