My email is all gone...

Arrggg DH bought me a new computer and gave my older one to the kids. We now have 3 computers and with 5 kids in school it is needed! Anyhow I sent all my old emails over to my new computer---hotel ressies, plane tickets, special emails, etc. I did not delete from other computer until I was sure I had them here. Then I deleted! Meanwhile DS installed Microsoft Word 2000 onto my new computer so that I could do my schoolwork. I never went back on last night but I did today and all of my emails are gone!!! I uninstalled Word thinking it somehow ate my outlook and it is still gone. I am ready to have a nervous breakdown. All 74 saved emails. All files for vacations, conferences, and special emails gone gone gone...I need the tag fairy or the email fairy or the computer fairy please...

go to desktop.google.com and download google desktop. Then type in the subject of your email. I bet it can find it.

Is it Outlook or Outlook Express? If it is Outlook, search for a pst file (search this way => *.pst). Make sure that is the file Outlook is pointing too.

There may be more than one. The larger one is probably the one you're looking for.

I don't have any suggestions, but I'll bet a technician can get them back.

Next time you might want to use one of the emails like gmail or hotmail or yahoo.com that store your emails on their server so that even with a switchover to a different computer, or a meltdown or your hd (shudder) the messages would still be there.

OK I am seriously going nuts. It was gone all day gone. DH tried to find it and it was gone. I just went in to try what Loubon suggested and hit Outlook and it is there... OK did the tagfairy help me out here or is this one of those freaky computer things? Whatever I am singing praises to the Computer God's right now!
