Just wanted to share this rebate possibility with others. We just purchased a new refrigerator because the freezer section in our old one was beginning to die. Our electric company, PPL is offering rebates on the purchase of energy star appliances, in our case $50 for refrigerators. They are also offering a rebate for recyling your old and still working refrigerator, freezer, or air conditioners. You arrange a time, they come pick it up and rebate you $35 for fridge or freezer and $25 for air conditioners. With buying a new fridge and turning in the old one, along with two small window unit air conditioners, I got $135! It's going into our Disney fund for this summer!!
They are also offering $50 for programmable thermostats, $35 for dryers, and $75 for washers. The reason is that Pennsylvania has tasked the energy companies with reducing electricity usage. This is separate from the "Cash for Clunker Appliances" that states are doing directly.
Don't know about other states, but thought I'd share.
