My ears have been ringing for 1 week now. I went to the Dr two days ago (late after noon) and have been on med for 36 hours. I want the ringing to stop.

One of the meds makes me tired, the second makes me hungry and moody, and the third makes me restless and very alert. By the end of yesterday I felt as if I kept walking into a revolving door and never took a step back. I'm sore.

I got 4 hours of sleep at one hour intervals. I slept on the couch so I wouldn't wake DH.

It isn't as loud as yesterday but still! When is it going to go away?

Sorry to rant. I can't hear myself think.

Happy Thoughts to all,

Ringing ears mean that someone's thinking about you. Oooooh, who could it be? ;)

Hope it stops soon!

My DH had this and it ended up being that he had balls of wax pushing against his ear drum- it was disgusting. have you gone to an Ears, Nose, and Throat Dr?

If someone is talking about me they must be bored by now. a week is way too long to discuss me. I'm not that interesting.

I have gone to my GP. He says that there is nothing in my ears. He could see all the way to the other side of the examining room. LOL. He thinks my eustation (sp) tubes are swollen. He wants to see me in one week to see if it has gotten better.

Have you been taking aspirin? It sounds to me like you have tinnitus - which is a constant ringing in the ears. Sometimes huge amounts of aspirin can cause this.

I've had a lot of problems with ringing in my ears starting in April!!Doctors can't figure out the problem so I'm blaming in on menopause......like everything else!!! :teeth:

I had tinnitus and was sent for a brain scan or something. You see, if it's one-sided ringing it could indicate a tumour. Are you seeing an ENT, too?

My ears have rung constanly since I was 7. My father took me to a firing range when I was that age, but he didn't know about the importance of hearing protection. He fired off a very loud pistel and I heard a sound like someone banging a gong in my head. The gong sound only lasted a few minutes, but my ears have been ringing ever since.

I've had tinnitus since going to a John Cougar Mellencamp concert when I was in HS. :( Some days its worse than others.....but one good thing I did find. A cricket had gotten into our house and it was driving my brother up the wall......didnt bother me because I couldn't distinguish its sound from the ringing I already hear. :p Tinnitus is also a sympton of a under active (hypo?) thyroid.

I haven't been taking asprin, been to a firing range in 20 yrs, or a concert in at least 15 yrs. Good questions though.

So far the ringing has been constant with a silght flare in one ear or the other.

I guess that if this continues after a week then I'll need to go see an ENT.

Both of my DD's had a belt test in Karate tonight and I thought I was going to die at first. All of the slaps on the mats and stuff. I survived through most of it.

thanks for the input.

My ears started ringing about 20 years ago..:( I wasn't aware of any event or incident that would have caused it. At the same time, I got severely dizzy and nauseous, with vomiting. I went to a GP, thinking I had the flu. He gave me some meds for dizziness and sent me to an ENT, who said that I probably had Meniere's Syndrome, can be caused by excessive fluid in the ears. His remedy, which he wrote on a prescription form was, "No Salt". He also have me a script for anti dizziness. I had about 4 more of these dizzy episodes, then they stopped. Haven't had one of those in about 17 years, so glad, that was awful... I still have the ear ringing, which can get loud or more quiet at times.. But it never goes away. So lately I have been thinking about going back to a different doctor to see if there is a new "something" that can be done.

But...I wouldn't know what to do with all the "quiet"..;)
