doesn't suck anymore. :confused3 Well, it works with the attachments, but it doesn't suck from the bottom. There's nothing blocking anything, filter is clean. It's only a couple years old -- maybe 4?

Any ideas? It's an DC07 Animal, if that helps.

Is the brush bar turning when you vacuum? If not, maybe it's jammed or blocked.:confused3 Could it be the belt? I'd definitely call their helpline before taking it in to be looked at (866-693-9766). Good luck!

We took the brush bar off and cleaned it. It turns, just won't suck from the bottom. All the attachments work fine, so nothing is blocked in the hose. Filter has also been cleaned

I guess it could be the belt. From what I'm reading, I'm not the only one with this issue.

This is why we didn't get a Dyson, they have plastic brush rollers that can melt over time. I spent $50 more and got a great vacuum on sale at a local vacuum store.

The brush roller didn't melt. We haven't taken it apart yet, so it still could be a belt. I'm wondering if the small hose from the bottom is cracked or has a hole, although I don't see anything.

I just replaced it with a D17 Animal and it's amazing. I actually like the canister set-up better on the D7 that I originally had though.

The same thing happened to me, and I took all the pieces off that I could, not hard at all to do. I had a little metal wrench in there, it was a kids toy that wasn't easy to get out, but that was why it wasn't sucking anymore.

Yeah, there's nothing stuck anywhere. I did the Dyson trouble shooting thing and there's strong suction all the way down until you get to the very very bottom... The little hose down there is see-through, so I can see there's nothing in there.

The belt and the brush bar have nothing to do with the suction at the bottom of the vac. When you set it to the "Bare Floors" setting it turns the brush bar off, so obviously the two are not connected.

The nice thing about the Dysons are the way you can take them apart in in small increments but it can also cause you to lose suction if one of the pieces gets knock out of position. I would check to make sure all the plastic pieces on the bottom are lined up properly. If that doesn't do it, it may be whatever changes the suction from the hose to the bottom of the vac when you tilt the handle back.

Which is probably why when I did the Dyson troubleshooting thing, the vacuum made it all the way to the end without a clog and with strong suction. The last screen says something to the effect of "Unplug your Dyson and do not use until inspected by a professional blah blah blah."

So, we bought the new one and DH will putter with it when he gets time. If he fixes it, we'll have a backup.
