My dumb question for the day

OK, newbie question of the night. I noticed a big price difference between a cruise on Magic and Dream. On March 24, a 11B room is $3131 for a family of 4 on Magic on the Bahamas A itinerary. The next day, March 25, a 11B room is $4030 for the family of 4 also on Bahamas A. Plus, the 11B room on Magic is 184 square feet and the 11B room on Dream is only 169 square feet.

Why is the same itinerary at the same time of year a thousand dollars more on Dream for a smaller room? Is there that much difference between the ships?

The Dream class ships are always more expensive than the Classics on Caribbean/Bahamas itineraries. Fantasy is more than the Dream. Disney assumes people want the extra tech and newer ships.

I've only done 1 cruise and really liked Dream. There are plenty of people who prefer the classics. I'd say save the money and don't worry about it. Magic just got a dry dock so should be very nice.

Is the magic leaving from Miami? That could be one reason. Also, there are differences between the ships like aqua duck vs aqua dunk

* edited to say it looks like wonder is in Miami then. so that is not a factor this time.

Both were Port Canaveral departures. I'm already booked on Magic for the March 31 sailing; I just was on the website and noticed the significant price difference for what appeared to be the identical cruise.

I looked at cruise fish and saw that magic 11b had 4 price increases vs dream 11b had 8 price increases. Clearly the dream is selling very well

The Dream and the Fantasy are newer ships so they do attract higher prices. It was the same when the Magic and the Dream were doing the same thing last January. The Magic was a lot cheaper. It happens with most cruise lines, it's not just a Disney thing.

I think the price difference is generally more noticeable with the inside cabins: Dream/Fantasy Inside Staterooms have the Magical Portholes. Therefore the jump from inside to oceanview if far smaller. I have noticed that once you get to the balcony staterooms, the price difference between the ships is negligeable.

we are specifically doing the 4-night dream that week because we have star wars obsessed kids. the new reimagined playroom with the millennium falcon and jedi training at sea were the deciding factors for us.

OK, sounds like there are enough ship class differences to drive the price difference. When you are just looking at the website and seeing what appear to be identical itineraries, it is a bit confusing!

You're on to something here. There are far fewer interior rooms by ratio on the Dream and Fantasy then on the Magic and Wonder.
