My DS10 has itchy, ITCHY eyes Help!!

This is the first year my 10 year old has ever been itching his eyes like this, it is driving him just crazy. For anyone that suffers from spring allergies, what do you use for this and can children use it too???
p.s. He just had an eye exam on Friday for glasses (he's complaining he can't read the board very well at school), but the optometrist called it a mild allergy.

We did alot of bike riding today through pathways in the woods and he was suffering terribly when we got home. Gosh, he loves to ride his bike, I would hate to tell him he can't. Any advice out there?

Does Benedryl help? I buy the Visine stuff and put it in my kids eyes every now and then (the one that gets the red out burns my eyes, so I don't use that on them). You could also buy him a bottle of contact lens Saline solution and have him put a few drops in his eyes every now and then to keep them moist. Good luck.

I use Opcon-A eyedrops, which are specifically for relief of itchy eyes due to allergies. They used to be a perscription, but now you can get them on the shelves of most drug stores. I looked at the container, and they said they are for adults and children over six. They help instantly when I put them in my eyes.

My DS suffers from eye allergies...his tear up so badly he looks like he's crying. We've used natural tears alot and that seems to help keep his eyes moist.

Try the Claritan that's at the drug store now. It really helps.

My ds suffers from itchy eyes also. His optemetrist (sp) gave him a prescription for allergy drops and that really helps.
