My DS has what they call NVLD, he doesn't have much upper or lower body strenght and I was told that horse back riding give him strenght and better balance, so on Monday he had his first lesson and loved it. The horses name is Abby.
Just look at the smile on his face! Horses are good for the soul, whether you're on them or just around them! It is great for dealing with many types of physical challenges. My daughter has volunteered with a couple of groups who provide this program, and will be doing so this summer. We are a horse family as I have a degree in equine science and DD started riding at age 5. We have 4 lawn ornaments in our barn now! I am glad to see your son in his helmet, but I am surprised they let him ride in sneakers. Usually riders are required to have hard soled shoes or boots with a heel, to keep the foot from going too far into the stirrup and getting caught. I did see that they have safety stirrups on the saddle which is good.
Your pictures are awesome! You'll find yourself having as much fun as he does. Be careful - if you get horse fever in your blood, it never leaves!
May he have many wonderful rides! Please post more pictures when you get them!
