Somebody oughta slap me for this but  I'll organize one if there's enough interest. I have 2 children, a DS8 & DS4. They have fun with my exchanges so I'm sure they'd enjoy one of their own.

Anybody else?

I have not fogotten FS he will leave here no later than Tues.

Sorry he did not leave this week...it has been really hectic trying to get ready for school carnival, DS has been under the weather, and the shop.

I've not participated in an exchange before, could you tell me a little more about it? I do have a 5yo DS who loves to get mail, so I think he might really like it.

If I had kids, I'd participate...but unfortunately DH and I are childless. We just have a house of cats or a cathouse? lol:earseek:

ladyjayhawk - they can get very addicting! I'm in three right now. I keep saying no more but it's fun.

Anyhow, I'll try to explain and if I don't make sense or anybody has anything else to add then feel free to do or say so.

Everybody involved gives their name and address to the organizer along with a filled out questionnaire about their likes, hobbies ... information the sender would need in order to go shopping for their pal. The organizer then PMs each person the name of their secret pal and the questionnaire, then you go shopping for them and mail out the gift. The ones I've been in have about a $15 spending limit. After the last package is sent you reveal yourself to the person you bought for. And there's a running thread that you post on saying when you sent your package out and then when you get a package you post what you rec'd.

It's a lot of fun. I think I've been in 6 or 7 or so ... I've lost track. I've never once not gotten a package back and have loved everything I've been sent.

I know my DS4 goes nuts when he sees my packages. He helps me shop for things to send and when I get a package he gets even more excited. He even tries to claim some of my gifts for himself!

cuterlt -- better watch out what you post. The Tag Fairy is everywhere you know! S/He might get an idea to incorporate the whole cathouse thing into a tag for you!:earseek:

How would you do this though? Just curious as some of us only have 1 child.
Yes lower the spending to maybe $10.

"The Ornament" Exchange over at the Community Board!

They are also having a Kids Exchange as part of the whole deal

Since it is already organized it would be easy to particiapte.

Just a thought.

I have a 8 year old DD 16 year old DS and a 17 year old DS,,Take your pick or take all 3:teeth:  If you don't like those choices I do have an 41 year old male that acts like a child,,Might cost me a bunch in shipping but still might be worth it  I should of checked under the bed for his suitcases before I said any of this... with the luck I've been having lately,,, He'll get up this morning and say that's it I've had enough I'm leaving buh bye:( :teeth: Anywho (I really got off the track with that one,, didn't I)

cuterlt you could still get in on the exchange and what ever gift you receive ,, you could donate it to toys for tots,, just a thought.. could be fun ,, the best part about this is the shopping,,Always need a good excuse for spending money

Sure, I'm game. Youngest DS, Grant (10), would probably really get into it.

and I don't know about everyone else but would like to keep this to the rewards board...just me, but we are our own little community here;)

How about an age limit and it could be done per child not per memeber or per member don't know, what do you guys think?

Great idea, Mal! Unfortunately I am going to have to pass on this one...I am already involved in an exchange and between getting that out, work and DS's school (mother's helper), I just don't have the time to commit to it!

Wonderful idea though! :) Let me know if you want this stuck to the top

say $5-10

I know my DS wouild be happy with alot of just tinkety things he just want to participate in a secret pal exchange. He was so into to this last one and kept saying over and over I want my own SP mommy.

I think my kids would like this. I have DD 12, DS 8 and DS 7. I know DD likes to see what I get from my exchanges so I am sure she would be in. Not sure about DS's, but I will ask.

Put my 7yo DS in.
I am the organizer on a freebie board for Secret Friends and Kids Seasonal swaps so I've got alot of experience with this! We've got a $5 minimum for kids swaps, $10 for adults.
Is this going to be a themed swap?

"I have a 8 year old DD 16 year old DS and a 17 year old DS,,Take your pick or take all 3"

sweetpea -- I guess I wasn't thinking of swapping out the kids themselves. After this past Tuesday, I'd easily give some kids away and I wouldn't even ask for a kid in return!

I think a lower limit for kids would be great. $5 or $10 at the very most would easily buy some nice kid things.

I'll start thinking of a list for kids to fill out -- just simple questions like age, boy or girl, favorite cartoon character, favorite show, card collections like baseball, football, Yu-Gi-Oh ... anything else that might be helpful?

When do we want to get started on this?

as we have come to know each other quite well. I'm also not interested in a ornament exchange.
Someone just tell me where I'm to send my info!! My daughter Chloe would LOVE it!!

My DS12 would love to do this also. We never did this before. Do you do a few mailings or one whole one?
