We (21 of us) just returned from our first stay at the Dolphin for 9 nights. We had 6 rooms.
We were all on the 11th floor of the East wing. Great view of Boardwalk. We could see some of the fireworks from Illuminations and a good view of Tower of Terror.
The hotel itself is beautiful and large. It was quite a hull from our room to the pool. The pool is fabulous with waterfall and slide. The had a DJ and playing games (limbo, twister, dtc.) with the kids.
We only ate at Tubbi's. We had a bad expereince. It wasn't crowded at all. Maybe 10 other people in there when we got there. Half of the pizza's we got were burnt, some of the food took forever to get. Could have been a one time thing but we didn't go back. Some of us did have lunch at Cabanba bar and grill by the pool. Good review there.!
The bad things that happened:
we requested a crib and fridge upon check-in at 2pm. Nothing by 3, called again, nothing by 4, called again and said we had to go eat please bring it up. Nothing! we left and returned around 10pm and guess what. Nothing! I called again and there was a knock on the door around 10:40. Just the fridge. DD(1) is asleep and needs to get in her crib. Says he will be right back with crib. Comes back at 11:15. Next morning I complained at the desk. They apologized and gave me a $15 credit on my room.
The other problem was the elevators. Numerous times they were shut down and we had to walk all the way to the central elevators to get down.
Also some of us were doing laundry and the Dolphin was out of tokens. Had to walk to the Swan to get some. That sucked!
After voiceing our concerns a $50 credit per room was given.
The ferry boat transportation to EPCOT and DS was excellent (especially with the stroller able to push it on), the bus service was prompt.
Overall the stay at the Dolhpin was fabulous. The few problems we had were compensated and for 6 rooms and 9 night stay you are going to have some problems.
Would I stay there again? Definitely with the teacher discount. But I don't think I would pay the higher rate.
