We (21 of us) just returned from our first stay at the Dolphin for 9 nights. We had 6 rooms.
We were all on the 11th floor of the East wing. Great view of Boardwalk. We could see some of the fireworks from Illuminations and a good view of Tower of Terror.
The hotel itself is beautiful and large. It was quite a hull from our room to the pool. The pool is fabulous with waterfall and slide. The had a DJ and playing games (limbo, twister, dtc.) with the kids.
We only ate at Tubbi's. We had a bad expereince. It wasn't crowded at all. Maybe 10 other people in there when we got there. Half of the pizza's we got were burnt, some of the food took forever to get. Could have been a one time thing but we didn't go back. Some of us did have lunch at Cabanba bar and grill by the pool. Good review there.!
The bad things that happened:
we requested a crib and fridge upon check-in at 2pm. Nothing by 3, called again, nothing by 4, called again and said we had to go eat please bring it up. Nothing! we left and returned around 10pm and guess what. Nothing! I called again and there was a knock on the door around 10:40. Just the fridge. DD(1) is asleep and needs to get in her crib. Says he will be right back with crib. Comes back at 11:15. Next morning I complained at the desk. They apologized and gave me a $15 credit on my room.
The other problem was the elevators. Numerous times they were shut down and we had to walk all the way to the central elevators to get down.
Also some of us were doing laundry and the Dolphin was out of tokens. Had to walk to the Swan to get some. That sucked!
After voiceing our concerns a $50 credit per room was given.
The ferry boat transportation to EPCOT and DS was excellent (especially with the stroller able to push it on), the bus service was prompt.
Overall the stay at the Dolhpin was fabulous. The few problems we had were compensated and for 6 rooms and 9 night stay you are going to have some problems.
Would I stay there again? Definitely with the teacher discount. But I don't think I would pay the higher rate.

Welcome back!

Overall it sounds like you had a pleasant stay. The problems you encountered could happen just about anywhere, and you were at least compensated for the inconveniences you experienced.

You had quite a gathering, was it a family reunion?

I can't wait for August to get here, I need my Dolphin fix!

Thanks so much for the review. We will be staying at the Dolphin next month (gotta love the teacher's discount!) and it will be our first stay there. I'm so excited and I am constantly on these forums looking for all the info on the Dolphin that I can get.

Hi! We just got back from the Dolphin also and LOVED it! We did have problem getting extra pillows. same thing, called, then called again, then I walked down to front desk. We did get our pillows eventually. We didn't have problems at all with the elevator although we were in the other wing facing the MK. We could see Wishes at night!! The pool was great, the room was great and we also got the great rate!

Nine days is a long trip. I am happy you only had those couple of problems (although not getting a crib until late at night is pretty bad!)

We too will stay here again. Epcotgal8 if you have any questions I'm sure you can get them answered here!

We'll be staying at the Dolphin our second week, AKL our first week. I know we're going to love the AKL,but I'm really going to love the convenience of staying in the Epcot area.

We just got back from the Dolphin too 6/3-6/11. We were East wing too, 5th floor. We never had a problem with the elevators though. Did have a leaky toilet which they promptly fixed and then also gave us the $15 credit. My final bill was incorrect with phone calls I never made, but they said they would take them off the bill. I liked the resort but would never pay rack rate (I got the nurses discount). It was so convenient to everything, especially food! The heavenly beds were great too. I was frustrated with the air conditioner and how it would reset itself when you were sleeping-it got hot! We went to Hard Rock Hotel afterwards for 3 days and those rooms were huge! The bathroom was so spacious (unlike Dolphin where I felt like I was stepping into the toilet when I got out of the shower). But the HRH was noisy in the hallways while I never heard a thing at Dolphin.
