Back story: my SIL and my BIL (brother and sister) built a doll house for my kids when they were young, 33 yrs ago. They played with it for a long time and when they finished with it we stored it in the basement. When my oldest granddaughter was young 13 yrs ago we brought it out. It was in bad shape. My good friend who is a designer got really excited and took it home to renovate it. It was great. My other dgrdd who is now 11 also played with it. This past summer my dh decided that we had held it long enough and since my next dgrdd (who turns 5 in Jan) has never asked to play with it (at least I thought she hadn't) we put it outside and then decided to throw it away. The day before it was thrown away she came to me and told me that she was almost 5 and couldn't wait to play with it. I guess I had told her she had to be 5 in order to play with it. It was in horrible shape as it had been outside since last May. It took me 4 hours to take it back to the wood and clean it up and then my friend again took it to renovate it. It looks better than ever. It has carpets, tile, laminate flooring. It has wallpaper and she has put up another wall in the attic. She has even made a chandaler for the dining room. Homemade curtains complete the look. I can't wait for my dgrdd to come tomorrow and see it. She knows it is coming but thought it would be another week. I am so excited.
