My doggie is really sick :( ***update #2 Post 36***

Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers! Sending you  and pixiedust:

Well some of you know I have been having trouble with my dog. Last Wednesday I had him on his walk as usual and he passed out in sorts on the way back home. I carried him the half mile home in tears. We went to the vet across the street since I am pretty new in town and she dx him with heart failure and an enlarged heart. On Saturday he was still having work of breathing using his abdominal muscles to breathe so I took him back. This vet has me more confused than ever. She stated it may not be cardiac but than said it could be. It was all just very worrisome. He is 13 and I am not sure what more I can do for him besides make him comfortable. I just lost my other dog before we moved so this is a real blow. He is my baby because he has had seizures since he was a pup and I have nursed him many times over the years. It is really hard on me right now. Sorry to lay this out there but we could use all the pixie dust you can spare. On top of all the other chaos in my life I really dont know how to handle this. Thanks for listening to my rant/vent. I dont have alot of people down here and you guys are like family to me.

Liz, I'm so sorry. I hope things work out. :grouphug: I know how important our furbabies are. You and your pup are in our prayers.

Sending you hugs and pixie dust. I have a fur baby too and know how it is when she gets sick. Hope all turns out well and they find what is ailing him. Penny:grouphug::flower3:

Thank you everyone *knocks on wood* I do see some improvement lets hope this continues.

Liz: I am just seeing your post. Thanks for letting us know. You are at a good Vet. It is also not a bad ided for other opinions. They pulled Bailey through an ear alergy that was causing lots of problems. You looked so sad when I saw you so I am bringing back lots of pixie dust and prayers. If I can be of any help let us know.

John seeing you there helped me out so much. It gave me a little relief that I at least picked a vet that was trustworthy. I think today is the first day I have not cried since Wednesday. He looks alot better to me. Not perfect but much better. Thanks for the support I really needed it.

Liz,
I am sending all the pixie dust and prayers that I can for your puppy. I really feel for you. Our pets are part of our families, and I know first-hand what you are going through. Take care, and keep us posted. I hope they can figure out what's wrong and that he can be helped.

Keep those prayers and pixie dust coming I see some improvement since yesterday. After 3 doses of the increased Lasix his breathing is a little better and his belly is less taunt. Plus he was chewing his bone and playing with his toys last night. Lets hope these are all good signs. I aprreciate everyone rooting for us!! You all are the best.:goodvibes

Glad to hear things are improving. Here's hoping the Lasix continues to work its magic. pixiedust:

Thinking of you and wondering how it's going with your pup?

Irvin (Mr. Brown) seems to be holding his ground a week later he is not perfect but if you didnt know something was wrong you would not notice. His belly has went down alot too. Not only did he have the heart issue he has an enlarged liver and some ascites (fluid) due to his seizure meds he has been on for 12 years. I think the fluid is gone because his belly is skinny. :rotfl: I think it has sunk in he wont be here forever but I will make sure he is comfortable and gets extra lovin for as long as I have him with me. I am happy with the new vet she has called every day to check on him and has other meds to offer if these stop working. He seems to be happy right now so mama is happy.

Glad to hear that things are improvings. Sending good thoughts to you, Liz, and your precious puppy! :flower3:

It's so hard when they get old. We had to put our 14 yr old border collie mix to sleep just before new years..life becamse too painful for her, she didn't want to eat anymore and would collapse trying to walk, tearing the muscles in her legs - making her continue would have been selfish. She was very calm at the vet and we stayed with her to the end. I still cry thinking about it, but the grief is slowly being replaced with all the great memories of the time we had with her.
We adopted a 1 1/2 yr old rescue who is the new best friend of our 4 yr old dog, that keeps our other 14 yr old from being bugged too much - and life goes on....losing them is almost unbearable, but not quite as unbearable as life without a dog would be!
Soak in the time you have with Irvin - he can't stay forever, but you've given him a wonderful, happy life and he has given you memories that will last forever!
