my dog was just attacked!

is there a way to contact the dogs' owner and at least make sure their shots were up to date since you and your dog were bitten? :(

Yikes...how scary!!

And I too would try to contact the owners.

Yikes. Maybe I should hide my signature right now  but I did want to offer my support and say I hope you, your poodle, and the baby are feeling better soon. :grouphug:
LOL honestly, even though they were German Shepherds, I don't blame the breed. Part of me doesn't even blame the dogs. Anyone who knows these dogs at all knows that they shouldn't have been being taken for a walk on a leash. They never do "walks" and probably haven't been on a leash or around other dogs in general in years. The original owners even said one day awhile ago that if they ever saw my dog (or any dog for that matter), they wouldn't intend to hurt but they would play pretty rough with it which is what happened. She made it through the night ok. It's not quite 8 so I can't call the Vet yet. I will still keep you all posted later...and thanks again for all the well wishes.

And Obi-Wan-Pinobi - that is such a sad story! I'm glad they were able to get some help but still - why even bother having a dog (or any animal for that matter) if you aren't going to treat it like part of the family. To me, thats the same thing as putting a 5 yr old in the backyard and saying "see ya". So sad.

A couple minutes later there is a knock on the door - it's the woman holding her crying daughter who has blood on her face and she says - "I just wanted you to see my daughter's face before i take her to the hospital." What the heck is she talking about? It's not my fault - apparently she flew out of the stroller at some point during this whole debacle and hit her head.

She was more concerned about "spite" than the welfare of her daughter?!? Nice.

If it were MY daughter, the first and only thing I'd be worried about is getting her to the hospital, not taking her on a show and tell tour.

:sad2:

Her dogs attack you on YOUR property and she has the nerve to come and show you what happened to her daughter? What did she expect you to say?

That's my question....What DID you say?
Did you slam the door in her stupid face?

Sorry about your dog, hope she feels better soon.
So did these dogs actually come into the house and that's when she got (and you) got bit?
I agree to with the other poster who suggested getting you finger checked out. Sometimes you just have to CYA, ya know. Sad as that is sometimes....

Hi everyone,
I just took my baby to the Vet. Turns out the Vet wants her to stay for the day so they can put her under and really clean the wounds and possibly/probably put drains in some of them. I can't believe this - I was crying the whole way home. Now my anger at this woman is so much worse now that I'm seeing what she is putting my dog through. So help me if she comes over here. I wasn't planning on sending her the bill but now that its going to be such an ordeal, I probably will. The Vet thinks she will ultimately be fine but it will take awhile to heal her up. Thanks for the well wishes - my Phoebe is a strong girl so I'm sure everything will turn out ok.

I was still in such a shock - I just looked at her like what the heck are you talking about and slammed the door. I mean I'm a compassionate person and I'm sorry her daughter got in the middle of this and got hurt, but my "baby" got hurt too and didn't do anything to provoke it so she'll just have to forgive me if I'm not that compassionate - what a lunatic.

Sorry, but what is CVA? All I can think of is cerebrovascular accident but something tells me thats not what you were talking about.

I cleaned the wound and the Vet actually took a look at it. He said to just keep my eye on it and keep it clean, etc.

CYA means cover you butt (not really butt, but you know what I mean).

Wow! Just read your post, how very scary!
So glad your "baby" is going to be fine but my gosh, how traumatic!
I'd definately be tracking the lady down to find out about whether the dogs were up on all of their shots and I would send her any bills as well--how crazy is that to show up at your doorstep to show you her daughter!
Does she think its your fault her daughter got hurt?
Glad you filed a report with the police though she sounds spiteful :sad2:

Minky & I send you lots of poodle pixie dust too. pixiedust: What a scary event! If you have't had your finger checked, I would do that next. Hands get infected very easily and you don't need that.

OMG poor baby. *hugs*

I just found this. Good luck with your poodle baby. My DM's beagle was bitten by another dog and the wound got nasty. It sounds like your vet is doing a great job.
Give her hugs and kisses for me. I hope she's home running around soon. :grouphug:

I hope your dog is feeling better soon! My ex mil's yorkie got attacked by the neighbors german shephard last year... it was throwing her up like a rag doll, she almost didn't make it!!! I know how you're feeling and I hope everything will be ok. I think I would have lost it on that lady!!!

Boy, do I understand what you went through!

My Beagle was attacked by a Pit Bull while out on a walk through my old neighborhood.

Keep your eyes on any puncture wounds. Jasmine had fourteen stitches to close a wound on her flank and you'd think that would have been what we'd have to watch. Instead it was one puncture wound on her belly that almost did her in.

It got infected and she had to have emergency surgery to clean it out and to install a drain.

Our old neighbor paid the vet bills (Over $1k) and I thought that was the end of it. Come to find out, Jasmine was not the first one to be attacked in my neighborhood. The Pit Bull had also attacked another neighbor's Sheepdog and he didn't pay for her vet bills.

ETA: I just read the other posts and saw that your vet is going to clean the wounds and possibly install drains.

Good for your vet!

We had to take Jasmine to an emergency clinic at first and they were the ones that totally looked past the puncture wounds. When they got infected, I took her to the vet that I still see to this day and he told me that they way they treated them (Bound her midsection with gauze) would have killed her had I not brought her in to him.

If the vet does install the drains, you're going to have to do some nasty upkeep on them. I can't remember the name of the meds, but they keep the skin from growing around the drains. I hated having to do that. :sad2:
