WARNING...SEMI GROSS STUFF BELOW...DO NOT READ WHILE EATING...

Monty just jumped up and grabbed a peice off of a fake plant I have. He's never gone after it before, he just suddenly walked by it and grabbed it.

We caught him and manged to , digustingly, reach down his throat and get most of it before he swallowed it but a few small peices got down. :(

When he was little he swallowed a small peice off a toy and he was able to pass it but I'm still worried. :(

How long do you think I should give it before taking him to the vet? If he has a normal bowel movement tonight do you think that means he is okay?

He's not gagging or anything. But I don't know. :(

Our old dog used to eat rocks. Every so often he'd throw one up, when we'd least expect it. :) After a while we stopped worrying about it.

I'd say if Monty Dog seems OK, not to worry about it.

I would say tonight or tomorrow.

Funny story,
the other night DH & DS7 were outside throwing the football. I looked out the window & noticed DS had the happiest looking smile across his face as he pointed to the grass. Then I saw DH go over & they both stood laughing. Well, curiosity got the best of me & I went out to see what was so funny. Annabelle had pooped & there were 3 pony tail bands in it, 1 red, 1 white (or had been) & 1 blue, it was a very patriotic pile of poop. I've been wondering where all of DD's hair bands had gone - now I know. There is nothing this dog won't eat.

Jasper our bijon eats rocks, sticks, flowers, feathers, seeds, grass, bugs, rabbit turds and just about anything else we dont get out of his mouth in time, they are idiots and there is not much you can do about it. there was a story in USA today this year about a golf course dog that had to be operated on to remove 23 golf balls from his stomach, true story

Somehow, the plastic will come out. Unless the dog is sick, I wouldn't worry.

Now he needs to eat a plastic steak! :)

Oh sure, he'll probably be just fine! My dopey dog eats all kinds of junk and I always find it eventually. Not that anyone would want to keep it once it's found though.:p

As a puppy my dog loved plastic things, he would pass on bones to chew on plastic. When I had him fixed I, he would not wear the "collar' and he was licking so much. I tried everything to keep him from licking, I finally resorted to giving him a large plastic hairbrush which he devoted all of his time to. That's been six years ago and he has never had any trouble. He also ate my mom's false teeth once! That was a costly snack. Dog stomachs are far more resilient than ours.

Just keep an eye on him. As a vet tech friend told us once, what goes in eventually comes out.

Thanks all.

Company just arrived and he's running around with our friends like the little spaz that he is. I think he's okay.

I was just a little worried there.

Our old cat once ate the rubber part that goes on the end of the door stop.

It got stuck in his intestines, and he started throwing up since he was unable to pass anything past the obstruction.

We don't know when he ate it, so I couldn't tell you how long it would take for this to start.

If he starts throwing up in the next few days, I would take him to the vet. If not, don't worry.

And if you don't see it pass, I wouldn't worry either. I sure wouldn't want to root through it! :scared1:

I want to know what his thought of the day will be about this? Something about "mom and dad putting their hands down my throat when I was just enjoying a little plastic snack is rather gross" thought? :teeth:

One of my dogs once swallowed a rubber ball (like the kind you play jacks with). Apparently she swallowed it WHOLE!! It passed I think a day or two later (must've been pretty uncomfortable for her!).

I think Monty Dog will be fine, esp. if he's running around. I too am looking forward to his thought for today.

our old lab sam swallowed lug nuts once if u think what monty did was gross you should have been there when sam's passed! lol
**Sarah**

I don't think Monty will be pushing up daisies............perhaps pushing them out in the morning!!:hyper: He'll be fine!

Our Airedales often will eat things they shouldn't. Parts of a plastic flower will not be a problem. The REALLY dangerous things are pieces of fabric. Long pieces of fabric that can wind around through the intestine can cause severe intestinal blockage that can kill in less than a day. We lost a 7 month old pup a few years ago who , unknown to us, ate a show lead. WSe found it on autopsy.

As long as Monty eats and drinks O.K. in the next day or so, it's nothing to worry about, Sheri.

At different times in his short life, Max has eaten and passed a whole dice, a roofing shingle, rocks, parts of action figures, pennies, and acorns. He's stolen and eaten a whole stick of butter, a Valentine box of Hershey kisses (including the foil wrappers and paper tags), half a pot roast, and half a bottle of stamp pad ink (good thing he's a black dog). He swallowed a roofing nail one time and managed to barf it back up without puncturing himself.

All of these things caused no him apparent discomfort, illness, or injury. (Well, the dice on the way out gave him some trouble, and the stick of butter...you don't hear about that.)

Yes, dogs are pretty tough, and I'm sure Monty will be none the worse for the wear.
